Many years ago (80s) helping my father in his commercial refrigeration business, we did this type of repairs on air conditioner compressors, usually it was a damaged valve or a burned coil and had to be rewound again. The problem with these repairs is that they are bound to not last long due to all the debris that gets into the system during welding. After quite a few repairs we started recommending the customer to buy a new compressor when the failure within the compressor itself. This video made me go back in time. Thank you very much for this video.
Me too. I worked rebuilding semi-hermetic compressors. So, no welding involved but we did inspect and measure every part, reground or replaced the valves machined as needed. He didn't even remove the piston to check out the cylinder, wrist pin ect. If it can't blow up a balloon, how is it ever going to build up enough head pressure?

The balloon should have blown up a lot quicker and exploded sooner. You must have a leak around the weld area. You should have ground on the edge, not cut into the side above the edge. Then the weld would be on the edge and have a stronger weld. There was no need to cut into the inside as it was clean, until you got metal cutting dust inside.

Funny how he took the piston rod cap off twice. That unit was clean inside. Pobably would have worked just fine. The oil was even clean. Where`s the severe damage???

If is repaired the compressor must have 350 or 400 PSI of pressure for use it, I think that the pressure is not enough

If weld was leak nothing to do with discharge line..coz discharge line coming from pump and dome is suction area..that hold gas..refrigerant
More likely bad valve or blow by. I didn't see him remove and inspect the piston and cylinder bore.
