Shibuya scenes of daily life in the 60s. Most of these clips are from Japanese movies, but they show the reality of the Japanese people in and around Shibuya at that time. Most buildings have been knocked down and rebuilt and some train lines moved underground like the Toyoko Line terminal station in 2013.
It is before the time of Shibuya Sky, Hikarie and Shibuya Stream skyscrapers, but Hachiko Square and Hachiko statue remain the same.

I love the 1960s; the fashion, music, atmosphere, and life in general seemed so much nicer than it is today.
TH-camの醍醐味ですよね。
よくもこれらの動画を発掘したものですね。
感謝いたします。
60〜80年代の映画やドラマのロケ地の今昔を比較するのが好きでよく映像とストーリーからストリートビューで探したりしています。
過去に高度成長やバブルがあったり、また建物の性格の違いからか海外に比べて日本の場合は10年単位で変化し20〜30年も経てば面影さえも無くなりなかなか結びつかない事があります。
ちなみに8:28春川ますみさんが歩く坂道はさくら坂と平行する1本恵比寿よりの坂道で質屋さんは今小さな雑貨屋さんがある場所だと思います。
むかしは女性は女性の言葉づかいでしゃべっていましたね。品があっていいな。
今はその、「女性は女性らしく。」と言うだけで、「差別的だ。」なんて非難されてしまいますからね😢
こどものころ日曜日の朝放送されていた「兼高かおる世界の旅」を家族で見ていました。兼高さんは父親がインド人ですが語り口がとても女性的でチャーミングでした。子供時代、男子は「ぼく、おれ」女子は「わたし」と言っていました。今はどうなのでしょうか。

9:41 渋谷区桜丘町です。2017年ころまではまだこの街並みは残っていましたが、その後、この一帯は大規模な商業施設Shibuya Sakura Stage（2023年11月竣工）の建設のため全て更地になりました。

I love Japanese films from the 50s and 60s. They have a lot of humility, heart and kindness. People of the war generation who had the opportunity to live in the country after the war with all its consequences. Beautiful people, noble. Where diligent work was the cure for post-war pain. This is the Japan I love and bless😍

I was born in Shibuya 1968. Grew up in Shibuya.
Since then, Japanese society had changed to more more democratic and achieved equality. But, sadly it seems, we have deteriorated our moral catastrophically.

赤木圭一郎、浅岡ルリ子、芦川いずみ、裕次郎、浜田光夫、吉永小百合、クレージーキャッツの面々、、、浜美枝、春川ますみ、も一人のコメディアンの名前が出てこない、、、ああ由利徹だ。。
うっすら今の風景と合致する部分があってグッとくる。
60年代の日本語、東京ってこうだったのかな?物心ついたのは80年代ぐらいからなので、石原裕次郎と浅丘ルリ子な映画の世界なのもあるけれど、こういうもう少し品のある日本語の世界に生まれたかった。
なんか、見てると落ち着く😊

映画に使われてきたフィルムって元々、今でもイケるレベルの高画質なんだよね。だからロケのショットなんかは特定の時代、土地の観察の素材としてとても価値がある
排気ガスの規制が緩い頃だから空が微かに霞んでる。1970年代は光化学スモッグとか公害が問題になっていきますね。

I guess the crazy cats' movie at 09:03 was shot on Sakura Street as well. They frequently had shooting there in other Crazy Cats movies, too. I read somewhere that Sakura Street was restored in the early 1990s, so there were not many sakura trees in the 1960s.

首都高速3号線もまだ出来ていません。

Yes there were a couple of black and white clips, but I chose to stick with all colours.

Mr. Japanese History, where have you been!? This video is very nostalgic for me as I can just barely remember those pea green Tokyu Toyoko Line trains. I always called it the T.K.K. Line as those were the company initials displayed on the side. My parents and I were lived in Daikanyama for six months when I was a toddler. When we went back when I was in kindergarten they were being phased out and replaced with boring stainless steel trains.

As I get older (I'm in my sixties) time seems to fly by. To me it seems 2000 was just the other day. And yet when I was a kid in the late fifties and sixties, not even a couple of decades from when Hiroshima was nuked, the second world war seemed like ancient history. I would imagine in Japan they were still coming to grips with their recent history and that that influence would find its way to movies like this one as well.

東急の青カエルで電車が普通に走ってるのを初めてみた
高度経済成長の真っ只中、60年代は初頭あたりと後半ではだいぶ雰囲気が違いますね。それだけ世の中が急速に新しいものに移り変わっていった時代ですね。
後半になるとすっかり現代の都会の様相になってきてる。
八幡通りのあの建物は、よく警察署として使用されてました。
素晴らしい視点の編集ですね〜。
自分の中の60年代の渋谷のイメージが根底から覆されましたよ（東京凄すぎw）。

私もさすがに当時幼児で記憶があいまいですが、1963年ごろの「玉電」の大橋から渋谷まで大人料金が、玉電なら20円バスなら30円だったのは記憶にあるので、同時期は国電も初のり20円だったかもしれないですね。なおおっしゃるように少なくとも1971年にはすでに国電初乗り30円でした。

This movie is called 'Bright Sea' [光る海] which came out in 1963. Female lead was Sayuri Yoshinaga (as mentioned by user @atticusendang8284 above), male lead was Mitsuo Hamada. It is inspired by a script of then well-known writer Ishizaka Yōjirō and tells a story about growing up as young people in a ambiguous post-war society. It also has romantic, comedic an tragic moments - you could call it a typical piece for a young audience who, like the protagonists, were caught between traditions / fulfillment of duty and the desire for modern relationships / lifestyles. Many movies of that kind were filmed in Japan in the 1950s and 60s before the 'rebel youth'-era of the early 70s.
