These pieces are really crazy, but all things considered I have to confessed that the show produced in me a rare sensation of honesty and love for the forms, the clothing and the body of the human being. I apreciate the show - so simple and elaborated at the same time - like the makeup - . Thank you guys. I enjoy it.
Daniel Roseberry at Schiaparelli and Thom Browne are the future of fashion bc they are inspirational, artful and imaginative. They are the next Gaultier and McQueen. These clothes are not for the faint of heart but if you can’t wear them at least enjoy the creativity and masterful execution of details and love of fabrics and forms. These creations must be watched several times to be appreciated. Be grateful for their talent! This collection was actually inspired by Noah’s Arc (TB’s video notes).
Thom Browne's collections are always conceptually driven. His runway shows are highly creative and theatrical. The clothing isn't meant to have a mass appeal. Either you "get it" and enjoy his designs, or it's not for you. I would imagine that the majority of his customers buy one or two pieces and mix them with other things. I doubt that anyone buys the entire ensemble as it's presented on the runway. Personally, I would become very irritated by not being able to walk at a normal pace. So I would skip all of the shoes entirely. I recall that several years ago, Browne had a short-lived collaboration with Brooks Brothers. He brought some of his aesthetic to the traditional menswear brand, which made the Brooks Brothers customer very uncomfortable.
I'm just an ordinary suburban grandmother of 70 years old, and I love his work. The designs and the theatre of his shows is a visual feast. My favourite is his Haute Couture Fall Winter 2023/2024. It surpasses everything that has gone before in my humble and uneducated opinion. I've watched it four times now and every time have got something new from it. I would dearly love to own one of the beautiful bags in that collection, and one of the gorgeous full length coats. Perhaps I might be one of those who "get it"!
Thom Browne is an execution master which sets him apart…makes me laugh yet slays at the same time. The harajuku looking moon (or more appropriately Saturn) boot shoes…also love how he’s reclaiming Saturn 🪐 symbology the same way he reclaimed stripes (eg on socks)…others think they own the symbology and they don’t…and I appreciate any new takes on Saturn especially in fashion with all of his references to time (the clocks crack me up but it would be fun/ny to wear)

making models lives more difficult, they just think in their heads 'it's a. job'. Someone dresses them to look ridiculous, who cares if they can't walk, all they have too do is hobble around artistically. Not one looked like they liked doing this.

As a "fashion show," it's a disaster. Not a single garment could be worn by anyone anywhere. And fashion shows were a way for women to see clothes they would like to wear and then buy them. But as a piece of theater or art, it's stunning. Theme and variation on his interests. Piling different garments on top of each other. So, it's about a concept that makes his clothes - even his simplest blazer - seem edgy and cool. To me, he accomplished that.
@@berrychapstick Haute couture is usually wearable. Only a few are not. Even Schiaparelli, which is avant-garde, is mostly wearable. In fact, Cate Blanchett wore a piece from a Schiaparelli show. Ric Owens is quite unwearable. But most, like Chanel, are meant to be bought and worn. Browne’s work is not.
Actually, that's what a fashion show is. It's about presenting the designers ideas for the season. It's about giving an audience something interesting to watch. It's about giving writers something to write about and photographers something interesting to photograph. This may or may not be what you will find in shops or online. You're confusing this with the fashion shows at Walmart. Perhaps you should stick with Walmart shows. Too bad that you just can't experience the joy of letting creativity go wild.
Don’t come to Thom Browne and expect “normal” clothes. Season after season, his clothes become more strange. This is how you do strange-strange can be incredibly beautiful!

"Elegante Soberbia", así llamaría ésta colección. No todos los conjuntos me encantaron, pero sí la mayoría, porque quién usa ésos artículos está diciendo sin hablar "Soy costosa, elegante, diferente pero no irracional, hago mucho dinero y no puedes -Aunque quieras- igualarte a mí"; Hay mucha estructura y creatividad en ésto y,e gusta la mayoría de éste concepto semi - Tradicional
1. The only thing I like is the bodice (which has nothing to do with the rest of the piece. FAIL. 2. I like the coat, with the stripes on one arm only, repeated in the stockings, and whatever is under it--a vest--would like to see more of it, and the same goes for the dress--it gets lost. Hair is cool, shoes are fun. 3. dresses are cool, like abstract paintings, each with it's own theme. I am not a fan of the fingerpieces, the hair piece, or the makeup. A little color would have been nice somewhere, and perhaps interesting gloves rather than the fingerpieces. 4: I love the cut of these coats, and the texture. The signature repeating stripes on only one arm or leg or both is brilliant. I love the dark one with the black socks and the round clock purse--another brilliant signature of this line. I'm not wild about the chunky makeup, but the hair is cool. The clock shoes were a fun surprise, and the length of the pants/shorts is not something I've seen quite like that--I love the pair with the buttoned cuffs! The clock heel shoes must be really hard to walk in--the models walk like they are zombies in a funeral procession, and some of them clearly look like they are afraid they are going to fall. 5. I LOVE absolutely everything about the Victorian/steampunky looks in the third collection. The oriental theme pieces are goreous as well--incredible, surprising and pleasing blending of fabrics. Interesting hair as well--that has to be hard to do! Overall, there is almost nothing not to like or love about this collection, however I will say that while most of the pieces look well designed, and WORK well together, some of them look like they were grabbed and thrown (barely) on the models. You'd almost expect the models to be wearing sheer, barely there gowns under the coats that are falling off. THAT would make a seductive statement if it was done right--messy hair, smeared lipstick, like she's coming home after a really good all nighter.
It's pretty incredible how so many people on this thread are so easily beguiled, rather duped, with Thom Browne's offerings. I have yet to see a season where he hasn't offered the same type of fabrics that make me smell mothballs when I see them. As a theatrical presentation it is truly lovely, certainly nothing visionary about it. The hair and makeup in these productions are clearly riffs off of the 80's and people like Leigh Bowery who originated this genre of eccentricity. But it is far too distracting from the clothes and all of the rhetorical nods towards the non binary are also annoying. I know what I am writing will not go over well and I am fortunately not here for anyone else's approval. I am about Thom's age and he, like myself, were children of the 1980's underground nightclub scene which by and large he gets the bulk of his current aesthetics from. Fashion used to be about the refinery, use of sumptuous fabrics and exquisite tailoring. Here we have none of that and its stead is a theatrical production of thoroughly unwearable clothes, that is, unless you are a young hipster out clubbing. I would seriously love to see who his clientele are for these garments.
