Yes salmiakki is salt of ammonia made by mixing ammonia (base) to acid hydrochloric acid (acid) until you have neutral ph solution and then evaporating the water from it to get solid salt. The name comes from the original name ( sal ammoniac) that was developed in Germany I think.
As an half Italian half Finnish guy just back from traveling in Japan with my friend Mifuyu (who is soon going to work in Ishigaki) and with whom I plan one day to go to Finland, I find bumping into your videos a kind of joyful coincidence! :)
