- Russia is all set to practice deployment of tactical nuclear weapons in rare exercises. But what weapons would Russia use and what will happen at the drills? Would Russia deploy nuclear weapons on Ukraine's battlefield? A Russian official told Reuters that the drills are a signal to the West and also a bid to scare them and deter them from a potentially catastrophic escalation over Ukraine. "You are making a grave mistake if you dismiss such signals. Russia will not be defeated," the Reuters report quoted the official as saying. Watch this video for more details.

Russian law would allow the use of any nuclear weapon only if 1) in retaliation against a State which attacks Russia with nuclear weapons first, 2) against a State which attacks an ally of Russia and there territory, and 3) threatens the existence of the Russian motherland and of the collective Russian People (includes the other ethnicities living under the Russian and Russian Umbrella States). I believe the essence is correct though some of my wording may be off. The Russian government are not a "first-strike" nuclear power, but they do have the technology to react very, very quickly to nuclear threats by other nuclear powers, even with systems that will detect and retaliate even if all the Russian nuclear personnel are incapacitated, it will retaliate on it's own.
