- I got the Xtool D7, after buying a new car, that had an engine light come on. It turned out to be absolute nothing. But with out a car Diagnostic Scan Tool like this Xtool D7,, It is imposable to know.

Cool. Very important to remember to have key in off position when connecting and disconnecting device, otherwise you could damage vehicle computers. I just make sure key is out when doing it. Also, as you mentioned,: low battery voltage/bad connections can trigger multiple codes.

Looking forward to car repair videos now Morten. You can do your own services and reset service intervals as an example. I am sure you can get a lot of usage from it as you have bought a long mileage car. You can even start your own home business for car diagnostic services. I see a lot of guys advertising such services. Easy money if you have the tool. To get the car diagnosed at the stealers cost a lot of money!
I will probably not be fixing many cars :-) But now I can see if something is wrong.

I have the xTool A30D which I paid $135 for...same as D7 but with bluetooth and you provide the Android device.
Yarh,, being able to see what is is complaining about,, makes a big differences. :-)
Famous VAG rubberized plastics. 2015 car and thanks to pealing rubber coat interior looks like 15 years old car. Nowdays diagnostic tools it's in 90% Android tablet with "glued" interface + app for diagnostics. Very important parameter for that kind of scanner is readouts per second. 6 readouts per second is good for one parameter. If we are looking at 6 parameter at once it gives one readout per parameter per second.

I would recommend Ross-Tech VCDS for anything in the Volkswagen Group like your Seat, much better for those specific vehicles and pair very nicely with a ThinkPad ;)

If this is your first time testing the car, it's a good idea to erase all fault codes and reconnect again tomorrow. Errors are divided into active and historical.

Since it must be cable connected, and this means it is being charged what is the point of the usb charger and the mains plug? Thanks! Just got one today to find out why my Corsa/Opel Twintop won't start.
It charges from the car,, but also from the adapter, if you want to do that.

I've realised that for 365€ I get a "free" tablet that I can use with other tablet and phone while searching why the damn tool says No codes found when there is clearly lots wrong with a car that fires but cuts out. I've learned that a low battery will completely bugger up the cpu. Great.

@@MyPlayHouse in a diesel car you have to clean your out gasses, so enter your DPF (diesel partikel filter).. The car can do it by itself.. If you drive long trips, and "high" rpm's.. But some times you just need to force a cleaning..

Poor alignment of the timing belt is not good ,it could cause extensive mechanical damage especially if the tapping timings causes them to hit the piston. Some of the cheaper devices are only readers and wont access certain manufacturers menus or reset things such as service menus. Forscan also provide a freeware software package to work with certain ODB2 adapters via a laptop for Ford, Mazda, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles..
It was a engine mounting sensor of some sort that came on,, after having the timing belt replaced. No reason to believe they did not do that perfectly.

Yes the tablet can,,, but way way cheaper options for this is widely available 🤔
The dealer would charge him 4 times the price of the unit. Then tell him other things need fixing. He is complaining this unit is too good for its money. Should be don't buy go directly to dealer warning. False advertising.
Well I have already had little issues that I could reset myself, and had the air-con pump replaced under warranty,, kind of helped by this.
@@MyPlayHouse I'am now even more baffled why you would spend the coin to buy this unit instead of downloading a free scan app to your phone. Like "Car Scan" and reset and read codes with a 3 dollar ELM327.
