What were the 2 tools u used after laying the bead of glue; first was black and the second was red(looked like a pen-but dont know what u was doing with it)
@@Gone_X_ing first was just a mechanical pencil. The second just a cheap writing pen. Just used to push down the foam to make sure all glue was touching. The pen had the ink part closed just used as a small tool to push down.
Hey bro I have a v2w6 and the sub doesn't work anymore. Sent a video of the sub to a repair places but everyone says they don't do repairs for these subs lol. The foam is cracked and when I push down on the sub it kinda makes a crunching sound. Do you think it's still fixable with replacing the foam like you did in this video? Please let me know you're my last resort 😭
I would put light power to it see if it plays like just a little radio like 20watts if it rattles it can rattle cause it’s cracked and the coil rubs when it goes up and down. Cause the surround helps to center it control it. And it might make a crunching sound cause the coil is not centered. Put light small power and see if it plays and move the cone with your fingers see if it goes away. If it does it’s fine if it don’t play at all then it’s blown
would you say that normally using a test tone while the glue is drying is enough to avoid coil rub? its unfortunate that we cant use shims on these subs
I usually just have music with bass on like rap with a bass beat or tone. But on super low volume while glueing so you can hear the rub if it does so you can adjust
@@OscarRodriguez-xc9ls 100% not necessary to play music as the surround is perfectly round and fits perfectly to the cone and basket. Ive done two with no issues.
@@OscarRodriguez-xc9ls the question is how old was the surround when it was put in (like 4 years ago).. when it was on the shelf, how long I had it when I bought it, etc.. but I just got it in and it will have to wait at lease a month and a half in my house before it goes in the car.
I did mine came out great . 13 “ W6 MD❤
Thanks man I'm about to attempt this
kylo nice
Bu sporu yapıyorsun oscar👍
agh just got my old 2 JL's (10W2v2-D4) I know these things bump.. gonna try to refoam them
Compa! Good job
Thank you
Your suppose to remove the dust cover from cone so when you set the new foam it gets sandwiched between cone and dust cover for strength...
Def not supposed to remove cone... was done correct in video.
Yeahhhh that's a negative buddy...this is a w6v2 not a w7
Is it really true I don’t have to take the cone off to replace foam on 13.5 w6?
Simplyspeakers just made a sale bcz of you… my concern is will it rub… let you guys know in a couple of weeks👍
Play music while your glueing it like 10watts super low power so you can move while glue sets if it does rub
@@OscarRodriguez-xc9ls well…. Made a mess but it’s centered and it stayed toagether 🤣
Great glad it worked for you

Do you guys repair any subwoofers besides the jL
Yes we can if they sell a kit for the subwoofer.
I have a NVX subwoofer where the surround is torn. The only thing I’m in LA can I mail it to you?
Mine was re foamed and the surrounding just isn't that good. Very soft..
