There’s a theory that Tom is related to the one who took down Maria since his family has been a part of Green Hills for over 50 years! Maddie said that in the movie! Project Shadow is over 50 years old! That would add so much to the franchise and not put Tom on the sidelines! I love Tom and he deserves to be there by Sonic’s side!
I have always thought if Amy Rose isn’t in this, it would be cool to have her in the end credits. She lives in Japan and sees Sonic, Tails and Knuckles fighting Shadow or whatever happens at the end of the movie on a TV somewhere at a store. She’s maybe shopping in Tokyo or somewhere in Japan. She sees Sonic and is stunned to see someone like her when she thought she was the only one around like him. She’s sees how strong and fast he is and feels like she needs to meet him! I just love the idea of her living in Japan since it kind of fits her style and come on, she would totally live there! :)

Yeah, just from the trailer you can tell, they will probably stick to Shadow's story from the game which is pretty serious. And that's for the best, like you guys said. You can't just bring in characters people like, if you're not going to do them right. And it looks like they plan to be faithful to Shadow's story. Really excited to see this
Shadow was always my favourite part of the sonic games since playing Sonic Adventure 2 Battle as a little girl, so I've been waiting for so long for him in the movies! I was worried they would mess his character up but it looks like they've got a great grasp on him, and they're keeping his backstory with Maria the same, so I'm very excited for this entry.

I must confess, though I have never been a gamer I am totally loving these Sonic movies. I can’t wait to see this one, it looks lit there is a lot there.
I am a 16 year old Sonic fan, who has been a huge Sonic nerd since I was 6 (a whole decade...time goes by fast), and has read some of the Archie comics, played a majority of the games, and watched most of the 90s and 2000s shows. I also watched the 1st Sonic movie when it came out in theaters, the second movie at home (I didn't feel like going to theaters that time----Caught so many Sonic references), and now I'm totally hyped to see the third! Additionally, I did NOT expect to see Gerald!!!! I can't believe he's alive in the movie---In the original game he was (SPOILER!!!!) Executed by firing squad, and he's only seen in flashbacks. And I'm SO EXCITED for them to do Shadow's backstory, and go into him and Maria's unbreakable bond; their close friendship, and Maria's inevitable death. I really hope they add Rouge and Omega---They're Shadow's friends, and they deserve to be in the movie as well. If Omega can't be added, then I hope they at least add Rouge, since he and Rouge are close friends.
There’s still a possibility that rouge, Amy or both are in the movie. #1. It’s the first trailer not the final trailer, #2. There is still one last actress listed on IMDBs cast list, Sofia Pernas, her role is still a mystery. It’s possible she VAs Rouge or Amy or maybe even Both! #3. There might be some key scenes that they purposely left out of the trailer so not to ruin some surprises. like how the 2 other Spider-Man’s weren’t revealed AT ALL until the No Way Homes release. They could be saving rouge and Amy for the final trailer or day 1 suprise reveals. So don’t lose hope entirely Amy, rouge fans. :) I’m also hoping that the full Moon sized space Colony ARK + Eclipse cannon is in the movie.

The fact that the first movie was aimed at a younger age group when you were younger, yet here you are much older is evidence enough as to why the movies should make the tone a bit more serious and darker here and there by this film. The target audience is older now. Doesn’t need to be rated R or anything but I think they set a pretty good balance of funny and intense in this trailer.
If you ever played the game Sonic Adventure 2 for the Nintendo Gamecube this is the exact storyline of the film and it is so exciting for this video game to come to life on the big screen!!!
