This February 1982 built ESP was built as the ‘Press Car’ by Ford Australia, featuring in many magazines and newspapers back in 1982, to promote the newly released XE ESP model. It is a matching numbers 5.8lt with 4-speed manual, finished in Silver Grey over Charcoal, and fitted with Sierra Tan interior.
With just two owners from new, this car has impeccable history, including a number of significant Ford documents, verifying that this car was a ‘Special Order’ vehicle, that was finished ‘out of plant’ at the Ford Special Vehicle division. One of the most fascinating documents is the ‘Own-a-Ford’ internal document offering the car to staff at wholesale price. You can see the car is listed with the XE007 plates, stating the date, mileage and the price.
The custom XE007 plates are included, as are a number of spare parts, pieces of original trim, and a huge selection of magazines featuring the XE ESP.
Listed with NO RESERVE, the highest bidder will be the next owner and custodian of this significant piece of Ford Australia’s motoring history.

When I was like 20 in my 50's now a friend from tafe dad had one
His dad told Doug me mate it went too well and revved higher than it should
Doug drove it Doug was involved in open go kart racing drove well and was quite successful
And an entertaining but quite humble and honest character
He told us about it
100k in 1st gear
Doug and his dad got the numbers checked by Ford
A Story unravelled
The long block was destined for Ford racing's programme but somehow got tangled up in a production run of these esp ghias
They asked for it back
Doug's dad said she's mine now
Imagine that a cammed ported head
5.8 clearanced loose to rev
He got more than he expected
I wonder where it is now
