  • In this video, we discuss how to make your fish grow faster. There are a lot of factors when it comes to maximizing growth in your aquarium fish, but they are fairly straightforward.
    We have seen great growth out of cichlids and other fish by following these tips. We have two growth and evolution videos below, on our Green Terror and Severums, if you'd like to see more.
    Severum Growth Rate: • Severum Cichlid | Grow...
    Green Terror Growth Rate: • Green Terror Cichlid |...

    Great video thank you! I do 20% water change every several days, test parameters and I vacuumed the bottom everyday as I don’t like looking at uneaten food. I feed mine frozen food and dry pellets as they don’t seem keen on flakes. Colours are really bright and they all come to say hello to me when I sit at the tank! It’s great.

    hey Troy, you guys seem pro on Cichlids.. and you are creating great content for hobbyists.. I also need your help on my albino Oscar..
    I've kept 3 Oscars in my 75 gallon.. all are around 7-8 inches now. planning to shift them to 100 gallon.. but my albino Oscar had stopped taking feed (pellets) almost a month back.. and only accepts beef or chicken heart once or twice a week.. he is also releasing some white fluid or discharge instead of poop.. giving up the food has stunned his growth.. plz advise...

    When changing your water in the winter, do you change so much water from the tap? Isn’t there a huge temperature difference between the tap and tank temp?

    • @justindmello5303
      @justindmello5303 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      So what I basically do is take some water out of the heater and mix it to the normal tap water as it's cold .. just make the water very mild hot and put in the tank

    • @Diego-rp1ue
      @Diego-rp1ue 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is how i do, i bought an additional heater. so i raise the temperature in a bucket before put it in in the aquarium. I regulate for the target temperature of my aquarium and wait until the sensor turnoff. easy peasy.

    • @wokevikki4332
      @wokevikki4332 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      most cichlids cannot be ethically put in a 20 gallon. you could probably put a decent amount of shell dwellers. 20 gallons can barely house most kinds of angel fish. the only south american cichlids you can house in a 20 gallon besides a few of the smaller angelfish species are rams and apistogramma. unless youre going to do a shell dweller tank its not really even worth getting into cichlids with a 20 gallon. youll probably get bored if you try to put cichlids in a 20 gallon youd be able to get allot more out of your tank if you try communal fish.

  • @andyconda9456

    Dude, your fish got huge in such short period… I’ve had my 6 African cichlids for 13 months and they only grew to 3-4 inches, and I have them in a 120 gallon tank, running an FX6 and C360 canisters so u know my water quality is always pristine, maybe the tank mate thing is what’s hindering their growth, cuz I have 3 Oscars with them that got pretty big , 8-9 inches in a year

    So, maybe off subject, sorry, but you seem to know much about cichlids. Situation: my lady and myself are at a battle for live plants or fake. Her, being the pro, me just loving a dope tank favor live for astetichs and filtration, bacteria benefits.
    Her argument is that the fish (cichlids) will kill the plants, is that true? Please respond, and ALL my support and gratitude.
    Sincerely,
    Ryan

      Hey there. Generally, most cichlids will uproot or eat the plants over time. There are some that will do okay with them though - angels, apistos, and rams are a few good options
