Great series of tutorials, I’ve watched a bunch of slap tutorials on TH-cam and most teachers spend more time making jokes and playing cool riffs than actually showing you a close up of what is actually going on, this was both entertaining and very helpful, thanks a lot man.
1.Keep the thumb parallel to the strings(like Marcus Miller) to avoid target error.(your thumb is telling you where to put your hand...) 2 play very slow 3 to a certain point, your hand position is depending on where is your instrument; Short strap (Mark King position) Middle strap (Marcus Miller position) Long Strap (Flea position). 4.with practice You will find YOUR way to doing it, but at the beginning try to mimic what you hear and see Sorry for my bad english
Wow, a video that actually helps me understand how to do something without dealing with any jargon. Thanks for keeping it simple for us beginners! *thumbs up to the thumb slap* lol
I really appreciate the tutorials man, gotta love those GOOD & BAD labels and close up view. (cool bass just got a Tagima TJB-4 as my 1st bass and it's sweet) 🤘
So, I suppose you shouldn't use much force when hitting the string? I can get an acceptable tone on an open string somehow, but not if I press down on any fret, unless I got the string very weakly.
@@TheBaba71 hmm, I'm not sure how bad that could be, but I'll try to swap with someone else, try their bass and get them to try mine. But I still think the source of the problem lies in me, somehow I just don't get it to work...
thats up to you but you should do this daily you wont regret, this is probably best exercise like ever for slap beginners and right hand precision, once you get this go on your left hand
DankTard keep practicing & pretty soon you'll be able to hit all of the strings with your thumb. It's not that hard really, just focus on the accuracy of your strike. Good luck!

You're welcome ! Happy it's useful!
I keep pulling my hand up insead of letting my hand gracefully bounce off the string. This shit is hard.

hummmm...it is (maybe) because the set up of the bass is not very good ?!

Should I use new strings? The sound isn't as crisp when I slap it.
Yes absolutely ! if you play everyday the "Crispiness" of a new set of strings will disappear within two weeks...sadly
