Cow might need training to help with separation anxiety and some toys, safe chews or puzzles to keep him entertained. Crate training is great as well because it teaches them to relax while you are away. Our 62 lb dog still chills in his crate when we are not home because it helps him relax (we also live in an apartment complex). Just some ideas that have worked with our dog!
you should set a camera up in your apartment to see how much he barks, it could be more than you think! i monitor my dog on a cheap camera and it gives me peace of mind

I did the same! Set it up but we work from home so we are not out much. When I DO go out I will be able to see what he is up to and if he is barking. The camera was about $60.
What happened to Olivia? Does she still work for you?
Has he been to a vet yet? The throwing up, diarrhea, growling, running away. My friends dog started acting like this and it turns out he was in major pain and needed immediate surgery. I think it was a herniated disc but can't remember. I'm not trying to lecture I'm just worried for the dog.

Don’t be freaked out by the washer moving. It moved because it was off balance due to the heaviness of the blanket. I’m surprised you didn’t hear it knocking against the wall during your shower. Another great vlog!
Try leaving your TV on to a channel with human voices and ambient noise - there’s a channel with antiques roadshow on all the time lol… it helps because when you are gone dogs are always listening for you. Leaving the TV on helps them calm down

Well how about don’t live in a apartment if it’s annoying. Or a no pet one? I have barking dogs as neighbors but it doesn’t annoy me as much as loud pounding floors and walks from humans.

@@marciejade1408 this is a very privileged viewpoint. I know that this is not the case for Shelby, but sometimes folks don’t have the ability to be that picky about where they live - for example, they may not be able to afford a place that doesn’t allow dogs or a house where they don’t have neighbors living above them. Just another viewpoint

Switching their dog food or introducing new treats can cause diarrhea. It's recommended to slowly introduce new foods by only using a small portion, then gradually increasing it. For dog food you can replace 25% with new food than up it to 50% and so on over a week or two. Personally, I wouldn't switch anything while watching another person's dog in case they have a bad reaction (diarrhea, vomiting, and allergic reactions).
If you don't have one already, get a Spot Bot. I got one for my older cat and it's a life saver. My cat had issues with diet and the vet food helped 100%. I'd suggest gastro (Royal Canine) for Oliver which will help his tummy. Don't feed him any treats or foods other than the gastro. I know you got different canned food for him at the store, that's what's upsetting his tummy. Anytime I switch my cats food or give a lot of different treats, it's a mess.

A camera would be super helpful in seeing what Cow is up to when you’re away. There are cameras for $50 or less on Amazon that have a a sound and noise alert feature.
Keeping a TV or radio on is also a game changer; it will help muffle outside noises.
And please have Monica take him to the vet, better to be safe than sorry ❤️
its rude if your neighbors are working from home and they hear your dog barking the whole time. better they tell you so you can fix it instead of them calling animal protection on you.
Definitely don’t think you’re a bad neighbor but now that you’re aware, I do think it’s your responsibility to be conscious of the situation since you do live in a community where people would be directly impacted by a barking dog including yourself if it wasn’t Cow.
I mean, they told me on the last day of me watching him so there’s not really anything I’m gonna do about it, since he doesn’t live with me so it’s not really a problem now
We always left the television or a radio on low to keep the pets company while we were gone.
If the building allows dogs those neighbors should not live there. Dogs bark just like babies cry. Just like humans talk too loud and make all sorts of weird noises in close quarters like apartments.

@@marciejade1408 Just because a building allows dogs doesn't mean the dog or dogs rule the apartment. By the way every city has a noise ordinance, and yes you can receive a ticket for a constantly barking dog, Even in owning a home it's still a noise ordinance that can and is enforced.
You really aren’t supposed to switch up dogs food frequently or quickly because it can cause GI upset. Probably part of why he’s been throwing up and pooping. He’s also probably anxious from not being in his normal environment.
Lol at the washing machine moving. When I was a kid we had a washing machine that fully used to walk across the laundry every time it did a wash. It would be in the middle of the room by the time it finished, especially if it had towels or anything big like than it.

In our neighborhood some people let their dog stay in yard all day until night. And their dogs bark everytime someone passes. Tho it can be annoying, I don’t think anyone complained. But it’s a house neighborhood so even if the dog barks in neighbors’ back yard, it’s not as long in neighbor’s house, compared to apartment rooms that are one wall away…
All the houses around ours have dogs. We have one neighbor that will keep his dog outside all night EVEN in the cold and rain and he will whine and howl. The neighbor across the street keeps their small dog outside all day while they are gone at work and they yap AT EVERYTHING. I'll walk out of the house and it'll start barking. I cannot express how much I can't stand people who don't care properly for their pets. If I was Shelby's neighbor living in an expensive apartment where I hear a dog barking all day, I would complain too. Maybe she could watch her dog at her sister's house...since she has zero actual reason she needs to be home anyway (can work from basically anywhere, just needs her equipment).
It sounds like Cow has separation anxiety. I heard he went missing for a day from a friend that was watching him 😢, maybe Monica could have someone stay at his home with him while she’s away. It’s likely too much for him with missing Monica, his routine & his home
set up a nest cam inside the apartment to check while you're out and then you'll really know what he does or doesn't do.
We live in townhouse/condo part of the year. We have dogs and our neighbor has a dog...lucky for us. When my neighbors leave their dog sometimes their dog barks all morning until 15 min before dog walker comes. And in my case when I'm gone apparently my poms bark for 1/2 hour. So we tell each other when the barking becomes over the top. So yes, I try to tire out my poms before I leave and put doggie separation anxiety music(on TH-cam!) on the television. It helps! Poor cow...it does sound like separation anxiety. It is what it is...you guys just have to figure out a way to lessen it. Good luck!❤❤❤

You could get a Furbo! It’s a dog camera that alerts you if your dog is barking and you can remotely send treats.
yep, when the washer spins out a large quilt it ofen becomes off balance which shakes the machine enough to move it.🧺
I avoid using heavy quilts since they ruin washers. I just double up on huge fleece blankets that are lightweight even when wet. 🧺
Really, Shelby! I love dogs I’ve had dogs but I don’t want to listen to a barking dog either. I mean honestly, how would you like trying to work or film with a dog barking or whining in an apartment next door. It’s not pleasant at all. Just needs some training sounds like. Good luck 🍀
He doesn’t bark when I’m gone though, it’s only when he hears my neighbors leaving (when the door shuts), he does that when I’m home too! He’s also not even my dog I was watching him for a week and left him alone only a few times when I absolutely had to

Amazon Alexa has a dog bark setting. If they bark for 30 seconds it plays soothing music. Maybe they can record how often he barks also?
Shelby you need to do a French tuck with that striped sweater! And wear with some wide legs jeans or trousers. Also I loved the cropped brown pants I wish you had kept them!!
My dog is a creature of habit and struggles with too many changes in routine. I wonder if Cow is the same? I definitely think Monica needs to keep an eye on this, as he's definitely exhibiting some strange behaviors at the moment. Hope he's okay!
The best way to get a dog to stop barking is to have two dogs. Also turn on TV. Dogs like the noise and light.
You should get a camera to check on the dog when you are away. You could even talk To him while you are away. I have seen cameras like that. Also don’t forget you have dog mode in the car 👍🏼
Hey Shelby hope Cow is feeling better now😘. I leave my TV on in my home when I leave my dog home alone to try drown out any sudden noises which may scare my dog. Maybe try get cheap Ring door bell type camera in your living room to watch over your furry friend and see him how he behaves on his own.

Hi Shelby, FYI...please get Cow to the Vet first. If it smells really bad, it could be his anal glands that need to be expressed. Also, dogs like confinement to a degree. A crate and a collar that will chime & or spritz water to keep him from barking. He also probably has anxiety!

Monica really needs to get a handle on Cow's diet. His reactions to foods seem awful, has he been taken to the vet? I would think so... Cow would definitely benefit from eating some of the normal well researched dog foods (like royal canine, science diet, etc.) the kinds you can find in good pet stores and the vets. A lot of the "indie" dog food brands (these new random ones) aren't good for your pets! They don't need weird fancy raw foods or toppers or whatever......
With the amount of rent you pay, you'd think they'd soundproof things and have you spaced out enough not to bother neighbors. I've lived in a swanky luxury condo that had that same issue. My neighbor would leave and their dog would bark for like 30 mins, then he'd shut up until someone walked down the hall and it'd start again.
Apartment living can be stressful to dogs. They do not have a back yard to just be let out by you on a moment's notice when they need to "go." Or better yet, have a doggie door that leads to their yard.
The walls in my apartment and thin too. My neighbor said my friend walks too loud.

When my husband and i go to work we get our dog a lick matt and put peanut butter (kiefer milk works too and freeze it as its good for dogs) and it tires him out so while we’re gone he sorta just sleeps and chills

Doesn't Cow now live with Baylor the majority of the time? He may not like being home alone if this is the case as he's not used to it anymore. It might be best to not be bringing him into a situation that is causing him high anxiety and if you have to mind him, do it via Monica's and housesit as well? I would also recommend some kind of doggie cam if you were to leave him alone again, especially one you might be able to talk to him through to help calm him or shoot out treats.
With a really heavy load the washer or dryer could shift in its spot. It happened at my house.

Dogs are all different, and I SO empathize! You could try leaving the tv on to help drown out hallway noise.
Or if you have an Alexa you can drop in and listen, and get a notification if he barks.
I always leave music playing on my TV when I leave. It relaxes my little lhasa.

Get a motion and sound sensor camera with microphone. Also, get a bark collar for when you’re gone and it does the trick. I also got a noise complaint because he howls when I’m gone and we’re together like 95% of the time.

I got a cheap Ring camera for home so I can start to go to the gym (and go out again) and see if my dog is barking. No subscription or anything needed!

tech savvy as you, why not install an indoor camera to monitor Cow when you're gone? that way you can tell your neighbor to shut it when you have proof that Cow doesn't bark all that often.

A lot of his issues seem anxiety related. And just so you know, dogs usually feel *less* anxiety when in confined, smaller spaces so I wouldn’t give him your whole apartment.

So I am going to suggest the exact same thing as bri09fl about setting up a camera in your flat. My friend did that for her dog and then she has an app on her phone so she can check in from time to time to see what he is getting up to. I know most dog owners around me say there dog never barks when they aren't there but they are not at home during the day so they can't be sure of that. The only way to find out is to spy on him if you will. Use our modern technology for the useful things it can help you do. You're lucky in the fact that you can take him out with you a lot because your job means you can WFH (work from home) quite a lot. And yes Cow is a very sweet, wonderful, amazing doggie.

Kinda related, told this one to Monica on IG, one time my sister brought her Great Dane puppy over, and she locked him in my room so we could eat our family dinner because he’s a hyperactive psycho. Well, while he was in there, he poop walked all over the room, on carpet, and the trail was literally in the shape of a heart. Everyone was both mortified and in stitches. Yep, he definitely loves me! 😂😂😂
