As a jazz musician and a vocal coach I gotta say this guy has some huge frickin! Vocal range and good ear as well not just the skill of beatboxing with a lot of sounds. All the sounds he makes has the clearest pitches I have heard from any beatboxer. How can someone beat this guy when he is able to do what you do already with a clearer sound and perfection ;)

I come back to this video every so often because it's one of my favorite on-stage sessions of Tom and one of my favorite live versions of Ratchet Face.

I don't understand how anyone can think any other beatboxer is better than Tom Thum. I've listened to a lot of beatboxers. Napom, Skiller, Alem, Bigman, Hiss and so on. The only one I can think of that has Tom beat in one single regard is Alem with his insane speed. All other parts is done better by Tom than by any other beatboxer ever in history. His lip rolls, his vocal base, his trumpet sound, his scratching, his sound effects and more than anything: his pitch on everything is fucking PERFECT! Bigman has a nice voice for example, but he really is not hitting his notes all that often. Tom Thum would totally destroy all other beatboxers combined. Except Alem's speed, I'll give him that!
Hi, Experienced beatboxer here! ( 9 years so far ), though you named a few big names like Napom and Skiller, Alem, bigman and hiss are relatively new on the block, and I'm going to tell you just off the comment your saying, Alem and Napom are focused more around speed and power while Hiss is more vocal and singing. Thom Thum actually does mostly skillful and vocal skits. If you REALLY think he's amazing you need to take a step back and look at the fathers of beatboxing. Skiller is out of Thoms level and I think even he would agree. Above Skiller is more intricate people like Gene Shinozaki and Krnfx and above those guys is Dharni who actually matches skiller although I think Dharni decimated him in a match once. Lastly we must look at the GodFather of beatboxing Reepsone. Reepsone has not only i believe world championship twice but I think he's not even allowed to compete, that or he stopped cause he's often a judge (he's too good to compete). Although I'm not saying Thom isn't amazing, but he's defintely NOT the best. Reepsone has dominated the scene since he appeared.
Tom Thum can't destroy Alem's Technicality
The beatboxers I mentioned are the ones who are sort of hyped right now, just used them for reference. I should have mentioned Reeps One though, he is obviously a total beast and probably #1 in a lot of people's eyes. I checked out Gene Shinozaki since I didn't know that much about him. Really technical, but his pitch is all over the place when he does sound effects / singing, and that's actually typical for a lot of beatboxers. I'll give you this: yes, there are beatboxers who has Tom beat in speed, just like I already mentioned with Alem. For me, my statement still stands, I think Tom Thum is beyond everyone else in so many ways, which makes him superior in my eyes. I appreciate your reply!

Okay I'm glad you're aware theyre mostly hyped up people! and thanks for taking the time on checking up on gene, I still think gene is pretty beastly, technique wise i agree he can be around places but Krnfx is better pitch wise and since reeps one doesn't do vocal stuff to show off his voice, more so just cause it's an add on I think he's another category. I take your opinion into consideration and will respect it. Glad to know you have a foundation in beatboxing though.

javeydones Beardyman is a drum n bass and electronic monster, Tom Thum was more about his Hip-Hop, I wouldn't say these two are better than each other but rather they're both the pioneers of what we're hearing today :)
It's definitely a toss up between Tom and beardyman ... I would say beardyman on top only because he's a musical genius ... At the age of ten he composed a full symphony for his school.. But seriously these two are the best for looping.

Tom is a fucking monster, I’m not too up to date in the beatbox world, but I’d say he is a different breed when it comes to musical mastery and ingenuity, he’s very skilled, and seeing as this was 8 damn years so he’s only gotten better since. My two personal favorite beatboxers are him and Codfish. Speaking of which, codfish recently made a return to his TH-cam channel and second channel, he made an insane video absolutely murdering a beatbox cover of eyes on fire by blue foundation. If you haven’t seen it I highly recommend it!
