Still enjoying being educated. I am definitely inspired to make some model engines. Thank You. You are a great teacher. Also, Please, keep up your "off topic" comments!. Best wishes from rural New South wales. Australia.
I use Loctite a lot in the shop. It's strength still amazes me. My only concern, is that heat is the magic antidote for Loctite. Since this engine basically runs on heat, I would think the Loctite would eventually loosen from the heat. However, you have built many of these little engines, and I'm certain that issue would have reared itself by now if it were a real concern.?.?
Another source of super light alumimum tube is the tubes that quality cigars come in. Check with any local tobacco shop. They usually have a few empty tubes laying around.
You can still get permanent markers with a metal body, but only if they are paint markers. I personally order capacitors of certain sizes when i need a cap for various projects. Perfect shape, already done end, and, very, very light, much lighter than any marker body.
loctite actually cures in the absence of oxygen and presence of metal ions. an accelerator would have metal ions as an active ingredient. loctite will cure more slowly on brass and nickel, but faster on plain steel or zinc-plated bolts. if you use it on a painted bolt and nut, it probably won't even work unless you squirt some accelerator. I buy these for $2 per spray can. I would gladly send you a whole carton of it but it is impossible to ship flammable stuff EU-USA and vice versa. if you know a way, let me know

Mr. P,
I think the word you were looking for is crosshead.
Red anaerobic locking compound is pretty tough stuff. Heat is needed to defeat it.

Quick question, not that it's important, but, do you save your machined chips and cut-off scraps for future casting projects?
A cigar tube would fill in nicely as the displacer. Maybe ask Bill Clinton if he has a spare?

At 19:25 I would call your transition piece a Clevis.
