I feel like the scene between Clark and pa is taken from Superman for all seasons when they are talking in the field. If memory serves it’s something about his fear of forgetting where he’s from and outgrowing pa. I could be wrong. I love KRYPTO! Even my wife is excited for this movie now.
I love the trailer, can't believe I teared up twice on the first time i watched it. I remember people not liking the idea of Krpto being in the film and all of the sudden fans were on board with it and it was trending on twitter all day. I like the fact that they showed he can be beaten because one of the challenges of doing a Superman movie is that he's too powerful.

So, maybe it’d be best for me to return to resisting the urge to dive in. Because I need the surprise that so many of you don’t seem to require for your enjoyment.
Pardon my pun but Mr Terrific looks Terrific. Did you notice green and purple armor on the attackers. If you couldn’t tell by my six comments this has hit every beat I am looking for. Colorful, hopeful, nostalgic comic book goodness.

I thought the trailer was outstanding. It gave me the 'feels' I wanted and I love the colour, the feel of it. Krypto is cool because he's scrappy. I've loved everything I've seen that JG has made so I'm very hopeful for this. As a composer the score is amazing. JW is my hero and to see his work endure is great. Did I spot Pruitt Taylor Vince as Pa kent ? Great podcast as always guys - thank you
My favorite Superman concept is him squaring off alone against a huge monster/robot/etc as only he can - panels where he is tiny in the sky at its eye level - so that kaiju scene looks awesome. This still manages to hide the actual tone of the film, unless I'm crazy, which is actually cool, but I was surprised at how Clark seems to be struggling in every frame of the teaser. I was expecting at least one glory shot of him smiling and looking friendly, but the struggle aspect seems to be what Gunn is presenting in each reveal about this movie. I trust Gunn, though, and believe he will not deliver a downer Clark like Snyder did. I will say that I'm kinda surprised at the look of the film. How stark it is. I seem to recall Donner talking about the "haze" on the cinematography in the Kansas portions of the 78 film, and that was sorta adopted a bit by Singer in "Returns", and I guess I'm surprised this movie doesn't look more "film-like" if that's a thing. And I fully predict a continuation of the reaction to the first costume photo reveal, and people will criticize that it actually does appear that Lois has to convince Clark to go battle a huge purple eyeball thing that's already destroying Metropolis.

Just started this episode but I have watched several of your break downs and when you showed the daily planet a thought came to me. Newspapers are nearly irrelevant today. With this re-boot should we still have Lois and Clark working at the daily planet. In the early comic days and even the Reeve era it made sense for him to work at a newspaper because that would be the best place to work to get inside knowledge of where Superman is most needed. For Superman to evolve with the times, What would be a good career for him? Maybe reimagine him as a writer for Lois who is a popular/controversial news anchor? Maybe make Perry White the Metropolis Mayor and Lois his press secretary and Clark a staffer?
The people being turned against Superman feels like part of Superman birthright where Lex tricks the people into thinking Superman is the advance agent fora Kryptonian invasion. I think ultraman will be a bizzaro clone of Superman kind of like the masked drones used in the nail story where they have many of them and they burn out the more they use powers due to difficulty cloning kryptonian dna.

Wow, you may be on to something with the "interplanetary zoo" thing. His fortress does appear to get infiltrated, so Lex may be behind that and all of the monsters we see in the film may come from Superman's fortress, and that may be why everyone's mad at him.

I was thinking the caped rescue dog was some kind of hallucination. I had not known about Krypto. I am a movie guy, so new to me. 😮 I thought it was the John Williams score, or part of it. Is Clark wearing a wig? That hair seemed a bit unnatural, I guess to be more of a disguise as you said, which makes sense. Is this in an alternative timeline or history of some kind, as it seemed like a throwback. Don’t think there were smartphones etc. and people are holding newspapers in several shots. I recognized the actor Pruitt Taylor Vince as Pa Kent. I thought that was Brainiac in the extreme close up. Lots of other villains and creatures looked interesting. Seems like he will have his hands full. Super young Lex Luthor. I totally thought he looked like Hitman from the video games. Thought maybe there was a glimpse of a Phantom zone, too. Great trailer review. Thanks for getting that up quickly. Do you think this will sync up with The Batman storylines in any way??
It has a lot (too much?) going on. I'm not a fan of establishing a DC universe (everyone is doing universes now, it's tired) through Superman, who deserves a standalone movie, independent of DC universe. But let's see... Asking Krypto to "take me home" got me though 😢
It didn't hit me just until now in regards to the costume why I'm on the fence about it, it's too reminiscent like a leftover costume from the Guardians of the Galaxy wardrobe department, it looks ill fitting baggy and isn't skintight as it should be and David Corenswet despite bulking up in the gym still has a skinny neck in the suit.

Originally I thought the robot was kelex but I think that is the Superman androids from all star Superman. I believe they had blue capes.
