Happy to say I crossed the kilo mark in 2020, and now 25% of the way to a second kilo, with 90 kilos of silver for icing on the cake. I have sold silver to trade for gold, but never the other way around. Even with higher premiums for silver, sometimes it's easier to pick up 10oz or so of silver at a time with intentions of eventually flipping for gold rather than sitting on cash that may get spent before there's enough of it for an ounce of gold.

A kilo of gold is about 120 full sovereigns, enough to inflation proof retirement fiat income for 10 - 12 years.
Saving for 20 years at 6 sovereigns a year is probably the best private pension fund that one can rely on.
I didnt start saving sovereigns until I was in my early 60s, so its never too late.
Any significant bullion gold you have, is more than most people have, so get it while you still can.

Gold has been used for 1000s of years as money and a symbol of wealth, it will continue to be for 1000s more years. Preppers are dumb about gold and silver. No market ever existed based on purely barter. Money of some sort was always used.

I have owned gold for many years, while I was in the Navy I would buy 1 Troy ounce a month and just put it away, I am now retired after 23 years in the U.S. Navy and have just started stacking silver, I am now fascinated with Silver however I will not sell my gold to buy silver. My Gold to Silver Ratio is much heavier in gold but with gold prices as high as they are now I believe that I can only Invest in Silver as silver is much cheaper and the great thing is that I can play with my stack ( I would never touch my gold with my hands) Silver is much more fun :) Gold I can only look at but there are times I want to toss coins around. A kilo is HUGE amount!
I've been stacking since 2012 when a friend dragged me into it and he wanted me to stack silver. I didn't listen og got (mostly) gold instead and only recently crossed the ½ kilo line.
Can be there's 50-80 gram unaccounted for in jewelry, some of it quality jewelry I'll keep and some of it junk which I sell and buy investment gold instead. I have silver too but not that much since I can't get myself to pay those premiums. So very little dedicated bullion but lots of medals acquired at scrap price or below.
So far I'm happy with my choice. Gold more or less kept its value without too much drop. Silver would have been a huge drop until recently. Only future will tell if gold is still the right choice. At least it's the choice of my heart. Love gold!

On rewatching there is a comment I'd like to make. In the UK a gold grab happened as recently as the 1960s when the Labour government were sick of the UK Pound going abroad and being exchanged for gold and brought into the country. Quite simply people were fighting against a weakening Pound through physical gold accumulation so the Government reduced ownership to a limit of four coins, two gold and two silver.
    Think it can't happen again? I don't.

Gold will be for direct exchange for large value items like 10 hectares of farmland Silver will yield larger profit due to it being used up every year In the long run the silver to gold ratio may fall enough to swap 5 or 10 oz. of silver for an oz of gold. Silver will increasingly become a strategic metal as global supply falls. Global gold supply grows 2 to 4 percent annually with little or no depletion.

In the 20th century, the vast majority of countries in the world had there currency collapse. Causes were war, hyper inflation etc, etc. Many places had this happen more than once. To out 20 or 25%of your savings into precious metals, is a rational, reasonable option.
I bought silver, before we left the EU, not really looking to buy any more.
