When Rap was about having fun...... Fat Boys, my favorite group and truly underrated. They did more for Rap than people would like to give them credit for.

This story was so interesting. They won a contest 1st prize record contract but wanted the 2nd place prize to have DJ equipment. Lol Then they won another competition just so they can have an Atari console gaming system. lol Yo this is so cool funny and crazy at the same time. The 80’s was wild man. Lol

@ 41:00 that's someone like "Daz Dillinger" from Tha Doggpound. He's constantly putting out solo albums like he's still hot like in the 90s and on Deathrow Records. He doesn't produce any upcoming artists, and he doesn't give any young artists a chance like Dr. Dre gave him a chance. He's 50 years old and still wants to be the star. Daz has put out over 30 solo albums and he's about to drop another album this Fall 2024. He could've used all those beats on new artists, and he could've made them stars. But he still wants the spotlight
It's crazy but I seriously never heard of Beastie Boys until they opened for Run DMC and Whodini in 1986 which the first rap concert I attended. License To Ill came out later that year and that was a huge record, and made them serious rap artists, so they were successful way before 1988. Fat Boys were already big when Krush Groove came out in 1985 and their first album was released a year earlier. Everyone should see Krush Groove and Disorderlies if they haven't already.
and yet, we didn't take ownership of it... at this point it's just much ado about nothing. We gloat about being accepted in an industry we don't run. We just the highly paid servants. Sad cycle...
