This song is phenomenal... the level of mood goes through the roof. I can safely say that this is my all time favorite from PT. Played this once in a song panel, everybody was blown away :)

I came across Steven Wilson and Porcupine Tree completely by chance from hearing Fear of a Blank Planet at the end of Control. To say I'm very thankful to that game's developers for opening my eyes to this group's amazing music is an understatement.
I saw my school. Its route in the morning. Sitting in the bus. Drinking water from the water bottle around the neck. Then the assembly line. Singing prayers. Checking of nails and shoes and if the dress is ironed. The first bell with pin drop silence because of class teacher. The lunch break. The running around in the field with your belt buckle as the power source. Saying out names of your favorite cartoon characters aloud. Their power becomes yours in that small tiny lunch period. The rest of the sleepy day awakened by chit chat and teachers scolding. The last bell. Ohh the last bell!!!!!!!!! - Thank you Porcupine Tree. Love you guys
Completely agree. I realize Jack White is in an entirely different genre, but for me - White is BEST when with The Dead Weather. His other band incarnations are really good, but The Dead Weather just has that something extra for me. Same with Wilson and PT.
And if you can't laugh then smile. How many times have I lost the chance to talk to a Girl because I couldn't smile? Great song to think and reflect On one's own spontaneous Attitude towards life.
Theres quite a few technical death metal bands and progressive bands I would rather give the title to. I.E: cynic, primus, gojira, beyond creation, obscura, death, testament, Jason Becker, animals as leaders, and conquering dystopia

@@kultenhughes3585 As much as I respect the technical skill of players like Tosin Abasi, Keith Merrow, and Jeff Loomis, I find that Animals as Leaders and Conquering Dystopia tend to write music that feels technical for technicality's sake.
I think I read in an interview somewhere that Steven deliberately made this as similar to "Dogs" as he could because Animals was the first album he ever owned as a kid
I grew up listening to Pink Floyd's Animals, picked 'Dog's' straight away. No doubt he has good taste. I hadn't realised it was the first album he bought. If I can dream for a awhile wouldn't it heaven to see him play with Pink Floyd. If only for one gig that can be recorded and the world can buy it. I wonder of David Gilmore has heard PT? Let's start the campaign!
As well as Dogs by Pink Floyd, this song also reminds me of the Abbey Road medley from The Beatles too. The latter of the two was very much a "farewell" song and I regard 'Time Flies' as more or less the same, given that The Incident is the (thus far) last PT album.
Just listened to Lightbulb Sun(only PT album I know) for the first time in like 7 years and was thinking how I really feel kinda old for the first time in my life because so much time has passed since then without me really appreciating it. Then youtube recommends this song.

Since then I'd picked about 13 Steven Wilson related albums, Seen him live (with Q&A), finished high school and college. So I said "Time Flies, indeed"
I just want to tell you what happiness is for me ---happiness is what happens when you go to bed on the hottest night of the summer, a night so hot you can’t even wear a tee-shirt and you sleep on top of the sheets instead of under them, although try to sleep is probably the most accurate. And then at some point late, late, late at night, say just a bit before dawn, the heat finally breaks and the night turns cool and when you briefly wake up, you notice that you’re almost chilly, and in your groggy, half-consciousness, you reach over and pull the sheet around you and just that flimsy sheet makes it warm enough and you drift back off into a deep sleep. And it’s that reaching, that gesture, that reflex we have to pull what’s warm- whether it’s something or someone- towards us, that feeling we get when we do that, that feeling of being safe in the world and ready for sleep, that’s happiness.
