  • Bloom’s latest research shows that around 30% of paid workdays are done from home in the U.S., half of what they were during the first year of the pandemic. And that number seems likely to stay the same into next year and the foreseeable future.
    San Francisco office check-ins continue to hover around 40% of pre-pandemic levels,

    Michael I heard a similar story in Florida, A couple that had a property and they moved out when to Europe for a year, they wanted to rent their home. In the middle of all this, somebody rented their home illegally, then the home owners got fined by the HOA, as they refused to pay the fine, the HOA put a lien on their property, not only that they got evicted from their own property by the HOA. The owners could not get the fake renter out for 3 years. Squatters are a real problem in many states including Florida. Is no real laws protecting landlords in this case.

    In California they have been checking criminal record for years, nothing new when renting a property. I agree with it myself, as I am a landlord, and the reason its because some are criminals renting homes in good areas to growth weed in the house, and destroy your property. Also other criminals, at list you can make a good decision when you rent. I must say in Miami they check your credit record and you are OK with that right? so why not criminal records as well, at the end is my property. That is why as a landlord you can decide if you want to rent it or not, you make it sound that we say no to all renters that have a criminal record and that is where you are wrong. Its a owners choice to rent or not based on what we see.

We’ve had little crazy experience and disappointment with Florida jobs! We came to florida in September 2021 and moved back to Washington state in August 2022 couldn’t find an OK paying job here in florida so we did short rental to our house because we could afford our mortgage and bills total $3k a month. By the way we were looking for a job for 4 1/2 months and could find a job that pays to cover our lifestyle and bills in Florida! Praise God for this new job even thought we’re getting -$7 cut per hour :( ohh well but our goal is to build a mother in law on our property to rent it out and to pay our mortgage that way it’ll be easier to live otherwise it’s almost paycheck to paycheck due to our mortgage bills food

    Company I work for moved from north east to FL and at first remote work was fine. After a year we were told to be in the office majority of time and people who couldn't move got several months left of employment. • @hejiranyc

    The remote work situation is really schizophrenic right now. I just got laid off of my remote position in biotech, which really wasn’t related to the looming recession. So I posted my profile on LinkedIn and I’ve been fielding tons of calls from headhunters. There are still many remote positions for middle-to-upper middle management. But, more often than not, the department head positions and junior level positions are back in the office or hybrid, which presents a dilemma for those of us trying to get to the next level but do not want to return to the office. At the end of the day, I think I would put being remote ahead of advancing career-wise. I am about 5 to 6 years from (early) retirement and I’m already making more money than I need. I would be perfectly happy remaining at my current level if it means I get to live and work in my FL beach condo during the winter. I would probably feel differently if I were more ambitious. But at some point you have to realize that you only get this one life and that you can’t take it with you.

I use a guest house agreement for short term rentals. Like a hotel, the guest can never establish residency requirements or status as a tenant. They can be told to leave instantly. To this video’s point I was marketing a vacant property and one day I found a fedex overnight box on my front porch. Correct address for my property but some name I didn’t know. I took it directly to the local police department where a policeman opened it up in front of me and found it was full of cash. He contacted the sender to find out they had fallen victim to a scam. That’s exactly right! Only a small percentage of workers worldwide will ever be able to really work from home because a lot of jobs still require a real person to be present and involved to actually make things that we need to survive

    So many misconceptions and fears around remote work. As with any career, remote careers can be successfully managed. Those of the old “Out of sight, out of mind,” mentality have probably never worked on a totally remote team.

      @@lala4499 Everyone on my team, including managers and directors, works remotely. The company, a large-ish tech company, has no space for us at any of their office locations. Old thinking impedes progress. We are responsible for completing projects, and we deliver. I’ll bet you do, too! I also hear the, “Your work will be outsourced overseas if you work remotely!” The big outsourcing happened years ago.

      @lala4499 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheAseliason Exactly! And I am not sure how it works for everyone else, but I can say in my work, there are legal and contract reasons that a lot of work HAS to be done on-shore. Of course she did not accept lower pay but now it’s harder to find a job since more people working remote with less money ! The companies through contractors ruin peoples lives 😕! Next year, our management will be giving salary increases, but WFH status has yet to be a factor. They have employees throughout the country, but I've noticed a distinct pattern of the folks that have returned to the office. The least competitive locations (outside of major cities) and lower skilled call center jobs have been asked to come back. Divisions in the company where there have been turnover with hard to find skills, tech/design, etc. have kept work from home. I suspect mainly to retain talent, and many of the newest workers added in these departments are fully remote, and located nowhere near an office. We do have quite a bit of outsourcing for our development jobs in India, but they are all managed by local people. Pretty much most of the jobs that focus on communicating ideas or selling ideas to the higher ups are the ones done locally.

Every single solitary village fishing village is gone, except that one scalloping village next to the Greek village. All the tomato farms are gone. The center strip still has horses and cows, but the coast line is jammed with houses that are the third house owned by the owners. Very strange bizarre not worthy anymore in my mind😢

    In addition to limiting pay raises, also reducing/eliminating bonuses for remote workers and the first group of people being let go when cuts are made. Interesting only to me perhaps... last year and up until about few months ago... almost all the resumes I received were from people requiring a work from home situation... and now most of the resumes I receive are from people who worked from home, but were let go or simply miss on-site employment. Not just a money situation or an efficiency issue, but there is also some early mental health research being done that is showing some of the negative effects of work from home including how not developing meaningful work relationships that form from day to day/face to face interactions actually reduce or harm ones ability to feel confidence, accomplishment, get deserved recognition, and feel a sense of loyalty. Rates of depression and professional unhappiness actually increased. Not to mention the impact working from home has on other members of the family unit. While there clearly are positives to having work flexibility, especially during a pandemic... the negatives will likely win out.

    Michael, the best thing about working remotely for the federal government is that their pay is based on a General Schedule (GS) Grade and Steps. Overtime is calculated at a higher GS rate. Therefore, the more you work, the more you make. This is unlike a corporate salary, where the more you work, the less you make. I have worked both corporate jobs and federal jobs, and I prefer Uncle Sam over Uncle Scam! Working remotely is a gift from heaven itself.😁

    Landkords historically weren’t a couple with a retirement account. They used to be more associated with mobsters and the informal economy.
    So if there were squatters, the law wasn’t involved much.
    However, squatters put a huge burden on the legal system, because there are too many.

    Would the city allow the landlord to throw out the squatter? Would they make the landlord go thru hoops to get them out? Can't have it both ways. And if the landlord was kept away by the pandemic, it's not their fault what was happening We need FULL restoration of property rights to owners. Otherwise rentals will be a thing of the past. And of course, the squatters should be charged with a crime.
