- Kouichi is Kouji's twin brother and they therefore both look similar towards each other. Like his brother he is wise and is open minded. He is quite caring and nice, especially towards his mother back in the human world. His mother and father were divorced, and Koichi stayed with his mother while Kouji stayed with his father, which brought about many complications.
Kouichi didn't arrive in the Digital World on a Trailmon like the other Digidestined. When he first arrived at the Digital World, the evil Cherubimon offered Koichi the spirits of Darkness, as to possess them one must have a very dark heart.
However after he claimed the spirits of darkness, evil had corrupted his spirits which created his native forms Duskmon and Velgmon. He then joined the forces of evil under Cherubimon's command to eliminate the Digidestined.
Kouichi believed that he caused a lot of trouble for the Digidestined during his evil forms. Even at times he has trouble forgiving himself for the things he had done. Thanks to the group's support though, he now feels better as time passed.
Such a beautiful but sad story of these twin brothers.

I really like this series, but I think it would've been better if the main story, at least in terms of the characters, revolved around these two. I wish Koji what is the main character instead of Takuya, and that they introduced Koichi earlier. I think if they had done that, and given the brothers more time to bond, it would've, along with it being more fun, would've been a little more heart wrenching at the end.
Like, I'm picturing a scene where, after Koichi finds out he's just a spirit, the group is eating, and his brother says something around the lines of, "I can't wait to eat as a family when we get home," and Koichi hesitates, because he knows he's dead, or at least he thinks he is.
I also think having their relationship is the emotional crux of the series would've been a more over arcing storyline. This is the biggest part I remember about the series, and the part that I still really like, but I don't really care for the rest of it.
I also think it would've been cool if the spirits were actual characters. They don't have to show up all the time, but in big moments, it would've been cool to have them show up and give advice, or maybe give past viewings of sites or whatever to teach the new moves or something. We know that their characters, because one, the characters can hear them in their heads at certain points, but they also talk to them in the last episode. I would like to have more of that.
Anyone else agree with any of these points?
I'm actually doing a rewrite of sorts where Koichi does end up on the train, but ends up separated from the other four (Koji included) and ends up traveling the Digital World with Zoe (both of them are very heavy underutilized imo) and their stories intersect but never quite cross until around the middle of the story.

It's more so that Koichi and Zoe end up on a different train car altogether, so while they both end up in the Digital World, they end up in a different spot. Very much based on Night on the Galactic Railroad, a bit of Kirby aesthetics, and both of them get badass upgrades (Zoe gets Wind but the Beast and Human designs change DRASTICALLY from Canon because the Canon ones were wack except for a few things--).
Slow bonding, PTSD from both of them, and 6 kids slowly but surely converge.

So when Koji and Koichi parents got divorced they each took one of them their father took Koji and their mother took Koichi the twins never met each other that's messed up their father mistake that his ex-wife is dead but she's still alive it was her mother who die

@@jeffreywilliams8499 where do they mention this? I just finished the show and it hasnt been clarified if he lied or just made a mistake, since it seems like Kouji thought his mother is dead since his birth.

He never stopped wanting his birth Mom to be a part of his family and then he finds out he has a brother, another family member, and a TWIN at that. Why wouldn't he want his brother in his life too?
I think it's beautiful, tbh, and I've always believed in the sibling connection, especially twins :3
@@codenamejinza on top of that going through so much tough stuff in the digital world and saving each other made their relationship grow faster, they were both missing something in their life and it felt like they found it when they met each other

@@ragnablade5397 What shocked me was that... Divorces in Japan back then were like that though, it’s not just for drama. When people get divorced, it's culturally the norm to not tell their kids they have a different family after an early divorce
