    Stuff we use:
CAMERA - This is the camera we have used to film 90+% of our interviews (over 200 interviews and counting) It continues to be our workhorse - amzn.to/2u66V1J
LENS - Most people ask us what camera we use, no one ever asks about the lens which filmmakers always tell us is more important. This lens was a big investment for us and one we wish we could have made sooner. Started using this lens at the end of 2013 - amzn.to/2tbtmOq
    AUDIO
Rode VideoMic Pro - The Rode mic helps us capture our backup audio. It also helps us sync up our audio in post amzn.to/2t1n2hx
Audio Recorder - If we had to do it all over again, this is probably the first item we would have bought - amzn.to/2tbFlM9
LIGHTS - Although we like to use as much natural light as we can, we often enhance the lighting with this small portable light. We have two of them and they have saved us a number of times - amzn.to/2u5UnHv
COMPUTER - Our favorite computer, we each have one and have used various models since 2010 - amzn.to/2t1M67Z
EDITING - We upgraded our editing suite this year and we’re glad we did! This has improved our workflow and the quality of our work. Having new software also helps when we have a problem, it’s easy to search and find a solution - goo.gl/56LnpM

I find characters exposed in stillness tend to start revealing. Cheers Film Courage!

Revealing character secrets in a sneaky way can be very interesting. For example; a character saying something important in their sleep (without knowledge of it occurring) and having another character overhear it leads to an interesting dynamic. In the same vein, having certain characters in a group know and withhold information from the others can lead to great tension and drama.

Reminds me of Walter White in Breaking bad. He says, "which one?", when his wife asked him where his phone is when he was tranquilized to take chemo. Apparently he's been lying to his wife that he had two phones. In that beta state, he gives away his secret.

I like the exploration of low stakes. Seeing a character open up after feeling comfortable. Maybe their life has made them put on a hardened mask but, all it took was one person be it a lover, friend or child to bond with or treat them with so much kindness that it catches them off guard.

I loved this because of a different reason than it was intended. Life really led me to be pressured into being completely honest with myself and life! And because of that experience I can understand the emotion that is being described about pressuring characters to reveal their secrets with higher stakes. It's a really interesting phenomena in the story arc of a person. I like it. And life usually gets better afterwards in every story. I can't think of one that didn't. Like a lid that unlooses, pops off, and now can remain open for more or less of whatever is in it. And maybe something entirely different. Great points in stories I want to remember and look for thanks to this video. ❤️

What are other great ways to reveal character secrets?

To build trust with an unlikely aid, rival, or nemesis for the sake of getting out of a unfavorable situation/predicament.

Why would I reveal mine? What would put me up against that wall where I would think that only the truth would set me "free"?
Perhaps the fear of losing that I'd like to maintain?
I know I didn't give any examples but to find that grounding reality and speak the truth I did just that in my last story.

There was this co lead that had not yet overcome a partner's love affair. But kept insisting he had. Until his resentment revealed itself in a crisis.
