why can’t i show the red dress? gore makes the dress red. this is an old tiktok and they used to be very strict about showing anything graphic, so i covered it :)
Urgh, tiktok censorship is so stupid. It’s like a dartboard and then creators are forced to bring that preimplemented censorship content along with them and it just encourages unnecessary self censorship out of fear of having your own income taken away from you

I also thought the dress transformation throughout the film showed how Grace unveiled the evil behind the perfect facade of The Le Domas through the game and slowly began seeing the cracks of her own perception of them, and her relationship with Alex.
When she tears her dress its as if she kind of detached a bit from the love she had for her husband and new family, and once they basically bathed her in their blood/their corrupt reality, she completely overcame them and came out the other way stronger than ever. The red also means in basic stereotypical metaphors as the beginning of a new chapter for her as a woman, in this context she's inherited the fortune of Le Domas dynasty.
i love that interpretation! the dress definitely reflects grace's own journey in combination with the theme of breaking tradition 💕

@@toffiet3347it would be absolutely insane but also hard to prove how one girl can make an entire family magically implode. Plus she will have all the money for lawyers and I’m guessing the family has some sort of plan b for getting rid of bodies

The thing about yellow is it’s also a color associated with fear, and converse are sturdy shoes that you could run in if you have to. So to me the yellow converse suggest that she’s afraid and ready to run.

The costume designer(don't know her name 😢) actually made 7 versions if the dress and made it long on purpose so it could represent her journey also pls do more final girls
It was actually 24, Samara wore 17 different versions of this dress and the other 7 were used on her stunt double.
This is extremely common. Multiples are needed all the time, especially when there is blood, dirt, distressing, etc.

@@GlitterC8k yes but I found this one to be much more interesting because I don't see that much appreciation for fashion in horror movies. And this one dress can represent an entire journey. I'm not saying it's not impressive when they use different dresses to represent a character's journey. But I think it's cool when they used blood and dirt to represent Grace's journey.

I always thought this movie was probably initially supposed to be based on the urban legend of the bride who played hide and seek and was never found until years later as a skeleton in a cabinet. But then it was rewritten for the bride to be the final girl
I heard a similar story but with the groom getting locked in a trunk by the brides jealous best friend.

@@kelseycrosen9637omg. I loved that book. Remember the one about the girl with the black bow on her neck? The friend asks her why she always wears it and she says she can’t take it off then one day she does it and her head falls off. I can’t forget it.

It was soooo bad 😭😭😭 What the fuck, so many plot holes and continuity errors. Weird, but it was serving with those spontaneous human combinations though.
I just imagine that at the end of the movie Grace and the protagonist of Get Out sit down and talk about their crazy exes and their families.

i like this but also i like the idea of. picture them dating for awhile and neither one brings up the other's family and they both start to get kind of concerned about it until it builds into an argument somehow and then they both realize they have similar reasons to have avoided the in-law subject. and then they bond and probably agree to go to couples therapy, where they subsequently traumatize a couples therapist

I LOVE Ready or Not!!!! I saw it in theatres a few times when it came out lols. But what I love about it, is how she was the main character, and the final girl, and just overall how BADASS she is throughout the film!!!!! Plus some of the kills in this movie were really well done, and not something you’d see in a horror movie that often! Full props 😄
i usually don’t like newer horror movies like anything past 2016 but this one was so so good. and i will forever rewatch it when i can.
Did you see Midsummer? That has to be past 2016 and is one of the greatest psychological weird horror movies out there.

I LOVE this movie, especially the last scene where she sits down on the stairs all bloody while smoking a cig, and looking at the sunset, while everything is burning behind her. So freakin cool 😩💕

The same type of things happens in phantom of the opera. Shes in white and then the next scene, her makeup gets much darker, theres suddenly much more skin exposed/a slit up the dress etc. when she goes down with the phantom.
What I thought about most after this movie is how she explained this situation to the cops.
They had multiple dresses with each stage of deterioration, really cool stuff

I bloody admire how Grace resembles Grace Kelly, Princess of Monaco, one of multiple American ladies who became princesses, my favorite horror movies all have a distinct aesthetic.
