Hi Guys, In this video I have shown the simplest and easiest way to fix this error "default boot device missing or boot failed"
The disk boot failure, or more specifically speaking, "DISK BOOT FAILURE - INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER", is an error that means Windows couldn't load correctly. ... It means that the disk boot failure occurs because BIOS is unable to find a bootable drive to start up the computer during the startup process.
A defective motherboard, or the video card, or piece of RAM could cause Windows not to be able to boot properly. To test for hardware issues, you can create and use an Ultimate Boot CD, which contains a collection of troubleshooting utilities to try and identify, and sometimes fix, hardware problems.
A problem in the Windows operating system can also cause the system stuck on the boot menu. Sometimes, a virus or malicious program corrupts the Windows operating system files that cause the system to stuck on the boot menu.
I have posed so many videos on different errors in Laptop you can go through the same if you need any solution.
For Legacy Machines:
1. Power on the laptop.
2. Enter the BIOS setup. How To Access BIOS: ...
3. Go to the Boot tab. ...
4. Highlight Boot Mode, press Enter, and swap from UEFI to Legacy Support. ...
5. Go to the Exit tab and highlight Exit to save changes. ...
6. Restart the machine.

My bios looks so much different, I have no idea what to do, I need help. It has a gray background with two dark gray stripes on the top and the bottom. It has 5 tiles with white stuff written on them. "Continue", "Boot Manager", "Boot From File", "Administer Secure Boot" and "Setup Utility". Please, help me!!

HELP!!! i still have this problem even after clean the entire disk from old partitions, try to fixboot/rebuildmrb commands, and others and finally re-install windows after formatting disk... Any suggestion
In which mode you have install it again? Uefi or legacy?
Hello. What if there is no boot mode shown on the boot tab?
In my interface, it only shows:
Secure Boot:. [Enabled]
Boot priority order:
1. window boot manager
???
Nope, 1 boot device priority should be dvd or external device like pen drive from which you are installing your Windows.
These are the only options shown on my screen

Hi, when I went to Boot and selected UEFI enter, it's not showing me Legacy Support option at all... It's just UEFI ... Can't figure out what's happening here..
You need to turn secure boot option disable first. Its there in the bios settings itself.

In my case there is two options in boot device, the first is set as default but I want to set set option as default which is from SSD. This problem I got after bios update, before bios i was normally using second option as default which is of SSD.

There is an option of secure boot, turn it disabled first. After that you can do it.

If you would like to install Linux and getting this error again and again then you need to complete format your laptop first, then only you can istall Linux in your Laptop.

Hey man! So I followed your steps exactly with the values, however after saving and exiting, I didn’t get the windows logo but still got the ‘No Bootable Device - Insert boot disk and press any key’ message. Do you have any more advice or suggestions by any chance? (Using Lenovo Yoga 13)
Ohk. You need to install Windows again. It is asking for a bootable device such as bootable pen drive or Windows Dvd.

You need to arrange it or you can take your laptop to someone who can install Windows in it.

I tried what you said but it's not working for me. When I pressed fn+f2 under the information -hard disk is detected. And I also changed boot settings but at the end, it's showing " media test failure check cable and insert boot disk and press any key.
Also, SAPA compatible option is also not showing.

You need to reinstall windows again. C drive data will be formatted. No solution for this.
