Ashley is easily one of the most underrated and the most misunderstood character in the franchise! Despite the fact you have to earn her trust and to trust others, she's strong, caring, incorruptible, and not afraid to say what she feels! She may not be Top 10 but she still deserves respect!
Oh yeah, spent a whole 1 game courting to her, saved her sorry ass on Virmire then again on Horizon(or maybe saved her from a fate worse than death, like being experimented upon by crazy, Reaper controlled alliens) and the best "thanks" she came up with was insulting you. Very good character really. No gratitude, no thanks, just being a bitch. Same with Kaidan.
I think it has to do with how she's the most human of characters and I liked her romance personally being former military and a lover of poetry she has a good development that needs to be earned through a long hard process but it comes to head definitely when she finally trusts Shepard during the coup.

As far as not trusting Shepard in ME3, she didn't know what Cerberus had done to get Shepard to work with them. Which shouldn't be surprising considering it's only been 26 years since they made first contact with aliens and she's earthborn. The most unrealistic fact about the mass effect series is how quickly humanity accepted aliens.
I never considered her racist because she was right about humanity being new to the galaxy power stage. She was cynical about how the other species viewed humans because they were so new. The other aliens have had much longer history and ties to one another and could have easily enslaved them in the sense of signing bad treaties etc. Think like major record labels fucking over talent. It was only through a common threat and Shepard becoming the “chosen one” was she able to see how humanity stood with the other species.
I noticed Ash’s hair colour in ME3: LE is brown, whereas it was black in the original version of ME3. I think the hair texture's flipped around too, I could've sworn her hair was parted on the left.
Damn, I like her. She is too cool for being "a ship crewmate". Every single time when I start playing ME, I put Ashley in my commander's heart. Beautiful, charming, well-knowleged woman in peaceful times and a real hockey enforcer in heavy armor with machine gun in combat. My russian mates (I'm also russian) often hate that girl, but Western Conference of ME fans is closer to me in love to Ashley. Thank you pals for reading my commentary, from Russia with love
Ashley is the best wife. A loyal beautiful dutiful family oriented God fearing woman with high in group preference. She's the only woman in the galaxy who had a good relationship with her father. Plus, her ability to hold a sniper rifle makes her deadly on the battlefield.
It always drove me nuts when I saw people blasting how she acted in ME2. My first playthrough, when my Shepard saw her and just said "Been too long, Ash. How have you been?" my reaction even before Ashley spoke was "You idiot. It's been maybe a week for you, but it's been literally years for her. She loved you, lost you, mourned you, finally started to emotionally heal and you pop up in a Cerberus uniform with basically 'Hey, dude, what's up?''" Honestly, I think Ashley took that better than I would've.
1:50:40 This is probably my favorite scene in the entire romance and not because of the romance scene itself. Shepard and Ashley are both serious characters and the stakes have never been higher. If they fail, they die. And if they succeed, they only have a slim chance of winning. But here Ashley is making a flirtatious joke to lighten the mood. Not because she doesn't know the score, but because if this is their last night together, she wants to enjoy it. But what really gets me is the next few lines. Ashley's relationship with Shepard is full of pain and betrayal and hurt. In Mass Effect 2, she accuses him of betraying the Alliance, Anderson, and herself. She spends half of Mass Effect 3 doubting and questioning his intentions. She questions if Shepard is still the man she loved back before the Normandy SR-1 was destroyed. Shepard acknowledges the strength he's seen in her since the moment they met and Ashley responds with absolute certainty that this is her Shepard. That the man she met on Eden Prime and the one standing in front of her at this moment are one in the same.
As a lover I prefer Liara, as a soldier and friend I prefer Kaiden, but Ashley is a really well written character. She is flawed and clearly carries baggage from her family, but she grows with time, dealing with aliens, friendly and threats, makes her realize that humanity needs allies. I still leave her on Virmire most of the time, but I feel like her story is tied up better than Kaiden in both ways. If she dies in Virmire she gets to become a symbol to her family and die believing in her God. But if she lives we get to see her grow stronger and wiser. Kinda bothers me that Kaiden ultimately got the short end of the stick, since the more vocal players picked on him and chose her due to being the only female human romance. That clearly made Bioware put effort in writting her story arc. Kaiden dying in Virmire and him becoming a Specter are great to simbolize his relationship with Shepard but don't quite get out of his Shadow like Ashley.
When I played the original trilogy for the first time, I moved on from Ashley because she treated me unfairly on the Horizon. I get it, she was angry about my "affiliation" with Cerberus, but her "goodbye" felt like break up. I couldn't be "distracted" by it, so I romanced Miranda (who else?). Then I received a note saying she's sorry. I believe her, but her words from out last encounter drove me away. In short, too late. I made that known to her in ME3 after she woke up in the hospital. She was initially stubborn about it (not surprisingly), but she accepted it.
You made the right choice. She still doesn't trust you at the beginning of ME3. She still doesn't trust you halfway through ME3, even if you visit her at the hospital and even if you show up with Garrus and Liara, for crying out loud (I knew the old Shepard, before Cerberus!). And if you get past that she gets blackout drunk with Vega as soon as you get her on your ship, and you're not invited.
I wonder why you send Kaiden with the Salarians to let them all die? If you want to save Ashley, I prefer her to go with the STG and pick them up, let Kaiden die at the bomb. 1. I like having Ash cooperate with the Salarians. This could teach her about teamwork with aliens. Same reason I have Jack hold the Biotic Barrier in the Suicide Mission, it fits well with Jack's arc in ME3. Ashley's payoff isn't as rewarding but it's still nice from a roleplaying perspective. 2. Kaiden dying holding the bomb instead of with the Salarians feels more poetic. 3. You get to save the Salarians. On the other hand, you get the bomb scene with Ashley, but it's not enough to weigh up the other reasons for me.
Ashley's romance was always my favorite, but after not seeing her a lot in me2, then not seeing her much in the early me3 kinda kills it to me now sadly. Still a great romance arc
Not to mention how they totally destroy her character in ME3 and then when she joined they make her into drunk and stuff. I always give her honorable death in ME1 now.
You know...when I choosen a Mass Effect 1 Save File, I specificly choosen one with Full Paragon and Ashley Romance. And to tell you...I was full Paragon on her in Mass Effect 2. And recently in Mass Effect 3, I went a bit Renegade. (Citadel DLC and the conversation after the love scene with Ashley.)
I may not ever enjoy ash in that sense but I don't get why people downvote you for liking xyz more than their own personal choice lol.. ppl like that bug me cause for some reason they have to shove you down or some reason.
Ashley is actually my third favorite romance in the trilogy and I do like her as a crewmate and there were times where I romanced her but in the mass effect the legendary edition.. I romance with Ashley and Ashley only in the first two games... and in the third game when she's in the hospital after her head gets smashed.. and she asked you if you cut all ties with her but I said no but she did get upset when she find out that I had a one-night stand with Jack but in the original trilogy that doesn't matter you can still hook up with Ashley if you wanted to even if you had other relationship like with Tal with Miranda or Jack... you should get with Ashley in the third game but when I play Mass Effect 3 and talk to her on the ceiling down when she sitting on the table she didn't ask me for going anywhere.... and it really sucks because I feel a lot of work into that play through and romance with Ashley but it didn't let me for some reason and I'm thinking that maybe now BioWare put that in as a very last-minute or their intentions all along
I used Ash’s death as a method of hardening my renegade Shepard, since by that point I had begun romancing her and it seemed like an emotionally potent act; the scarred commander, forced to leave his lady love behind to save the galaxy.
I think my favourite romances have been ash and Miranda, been meaning to try out Jack as well, all these characters grow a lot when you romance them, all of them experienced a lot of hardship and the romance allows their character to develop more and past those experiences. It’s why personally I never picked tali or liara, they are both nice but I feel their character does not develop as much
All the years I have been playing Mass Effect, I did NOT know you could restart the campaign with your character leveled up and all the armor, weapons, and equipment from the last of the story.
Watching this romance and certain scene related to a game a bit, i realize how many part of the scene foreshadowing what would happened to sheperd at the end of the game.
I've heard some say that the reason Ash got a new look is so she could compete with Miranda, but I have to be honest I think her new look is reflective of how she has grown as a character.
I know that it's been said that the "canon" romance is Liara, but they really put a lot of effort and emotion into the Ashley romance. Very impressed, Shepard shows a great deal of emotion towards Ash, more so than I remember out of the other romances. A lot of "I love you"'s. Thanks for posting this, very enjoyable!
Its mostly because how how much screen time Liara gets, If Ashley got as much later on, I think she would be way better if she kept her ME1 personality. Liara is nothing to Ashley imo.
You've seen all the romances, both original and legendary editions. Do you have a favorite? Thanks, btw, for all of these videos! They help me plan out some of my Shepards. :)
I never Romanced Ashley but i always let her live because i take her and Wrex 90% on the ME1 playtrought actually i Romanced no one in ME1 nice to see someone does follow her Romance path also i see some console commands there Colosus armor ':P
I feel like most male Shepard's interactions with Ashley (and some of Liara's) have a romantic aspect to them even if they aren't involved. To the point it feels weird that they aren't together or weren't an item at some point.
I originally thought she was a medic officer, just because of her colors. And for a while I was like "Don't you got any healing or medic stuff I can use?"
Damn medical armor... But in Mass Effect 1 you can equip her with a heavy camouflaged armor developed by Armax Arsenal. And a bad fact - this is a late-game armor (Noveria and late)
@Anon Lahey gods below, sarcasm is dead. It was a joke predicated on the premise that I and many other players never save Ashley because she's a Bible thumping space racist (well, xenophobe technically). [Insert McBain "that's the joke" meme here]
@anonlaheywhat’re you talking about? This is a mod that was created by the fans because they loved Ashley so much that they wanted to make it see how she will fit in the trilogy.
I never like the Normandy flying in to retreive the team. Instead of running that last stretch, kill the reaper and do a commando drop with the Normandy. Clearly Harbinger doesn't see her so a percision air strike, drop off a cargo hold full of marines and retreat to a safe distance
Her, soon as their backs are against the wall line, actually happens when the council say, well, your planets getting destroyed and well use that time to help our own people.
Remeber when we didnt have to worry about how caracters were gonna be written in games? And they did this not for just one but many and all with their unique dialog and very realistic dialog and emotions. Shout out to the voice actors too, they were brilliant. Coming back to this the dialog is soooo good and realistic compared to the cringe in modern games. No wonder the industry isnt growing, it peaked.......
Hey man love the vids I have a question about ash, I can’t get the last conversation before the virmire mission. The convo that starts at minute 24:11, I did all missions and other conversations but this one won’t come up ?

Kaiden gets more depth but you need to do some side quests with biotics like himself.
Man awesome video as always. Keep going!
Who else? Liara or Tali, hell even Jack is better than Ashley
That is why Kelly Chambers is there lol
You made the right choice. She still doesn't trust you at the beginning of ME3. She still doesn't trust you halfway through ME3, even if you visit her at the hospital and even if you show up with Garrus and Liara, for crying out loud (I knew the old Shepard, before Cerberus!). And if you get past that she gets blackout drunk with Vega as soon as you get her on your ship, and you're not invited.
I know I’m 2 months late buuut welcome back!!!
I love when you wear the new N7 armor in Mass Effect 3
Bruh the romance songs are amazing
It’s probably cause she’s the first one to join your team but Ash has a special place in my heart even though the game wants you with Liara 😂
All I can hear is dr chocolates. Dam you manslayer
@@Dark_Voice Kinda true, from the other hand it gives "I was lost without you" an extra meaning.
Ashley looks cute in that white and pink armor suit.
Bro, awesome looking Shep! Great Video, Ash is always my go to romance, in fact I don't think I've romanced anyone else before.
Ashley is the best romance character and wife material
Love your character by the way
You know...when I choosen a Mass Effect 1 Save File, I specificly choosen one with Full Paragon and Ashley Romance. And to tell you...I was full Paragon on her in Mass Effect 2. And recently in Mass Effect 3, I went a bit Renegade. (Citadel DLC and the conversation after the love scene with Ashley.)
Vega went renegade on your Ashley as soon as she got on the ship lol
I may not ever enjoy ash in that sense but I don't get why people downvote you for liking xyz more than their own personal choice lol.. ppl like that bug me cause for some reason they have to shove you down or some reason.
Ashley is actually my third favorite romance in the trilogy and I do like her as a crewmate and there were times where I romanced her but in the mass effect the legendary edition.. I romance with Ashley and Ashley only in the first two games... and in the third game when she's in the hospital after her head gets smashed.. and she asked you if you cut all ties with her but I said no but she did get upset when she find out that I had a one-night stand with Jack but in the original trilogy that doesn't matter you can still hook up with Ashley if you wanted to even if you had other relationship like with Tal
with Miranda or Jack... you should get with Ashley in the third game but when I play Mass Effect 3 and talk to her on the ceiling down when she sitting on the table she didn't ask me for going anywhere.... and it really sucks because I feel a lot of work into that play through and romance with Ashley but it didn't let me for some reason and I'm thinking that maybe now BioWare put that in as a very last-minute or their intentions all along
I agree she's my Third Favourite romance too for me it Goes Miranda, Tali Then Ashley
I used Ash’s death as a method of hardening my renegade Shepard, since by that point I had begun romancing her and it seemed like an emotionally potent act; the scarred commander, forced to leave his lady love behind to save the galaxy.
This scene was just adorable. 10:52 to 11:12
I think my favourite romances have been ash and Miranda, been meaning to try out Jack as well, all these characters grow a lot when you romance them, all of them experienced a lot of hardship and the romance allows their character to develop more and past those experiences. It’s why personally I never picked tali or liara, they are both nice but I feel their character does not develop as much
All the years I have been playing Mass Effect, I did NOT know you could restart the campaign with your character leveled up and all the armor, weapons, and equipment from the last of the story.
How can we do that
I’m pretty sure it’s all mods.
Watching this romance and certain scene related to a game a bit, i realize how many part of the scene foreshadowing what would happened to sheperd at the end of the game.
“Just shut up and kiss me” I paused the game for a hot min to process everything
🤣🤣🤣
I've heard some say that the reason Ash got a new look is so she could compete with Miranda, but I have to be honest I think her new look is reflective of how she has grown as a character.
Your shepard looks awesome!
RIP Shepherd: We Will Never Forget You Respect Here Please Down The Comment👇💐💐💐💐💐
Modmakers: RESURRECTION!!!
I forgot how rough Shepard death was
You've seen all the romances, both original and legendary editions.
It annoys me how they never fixed the bug in mass Effect 3 when Shepard and Ashley are talking but their mouths aren’t moving 🤦♂️
Or her eyes rolling back into her head when you talk to her in the hospital, with her face all bruised.
I feel like most male Shepard's interactions with Ashley (and some of Liara's) have a romantic aspect to them even if they aren't involved. To the point it feels weird that they aren't together or weren't an item at some point.
I used to hate Ashley but over the years she has probably grown to become one of my 5 favorite squadmates.
I swear she's damn right crazy, she can be hilarious I love her
I originally thought she was a medic officer, just because of her colors. And for a while I was like "Don't you got any healing or medic stuff I can use?"
Those colors look insanely stupid. They make no sense.
Damn medical armor... But in Mass Effect 1 you can equip her with a heavy camouflaged armor developed by Armax Arsenal. And a bad fact - this is a late-game armor (Noveria and late)
Wow this is some incredible mod work. It's amazing they put all this in for ME2 and 3, seeing as how Ashley dies in the first game
She may have started off as a racist, but she was 100% right about the council.
I hated her at first for being racist but as the the game progresses I grew to like her a lot.
Her, soon as their backs are against the wall line, actually happens when the council say, well, your planets getting destroyed and well use that time to help our own people.
Omg her eyes in medical bay made me fucking scared
Love your vids. Maybe do full Renegade romance play thrus
my only nitpick is that you should've sent Ashley with Kirrahe, I always sent the one I want to save with him so I can save his team as well
1:46:08
Jacob? You good bro?
Hahahahahahaah 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yoo the one and only girl
Remember she's not an romance in me2 and in order to romance ashley you gotta make sure she survived virmire
Everyone here talking about how much they love Ashley and Vega got her blackout drunk and hit the minute you invited her back on your ship in ME3! lol
The moment you realize Ashley is voiced by Classi from South Park
1:44:43 Star Wars Cantina reference 😂
Why is the video longer than the OG Ashley?
Not complaining but trying to figure it out.
This is because quite allot of scènes and unique dialogue were missing and is fixed now in this video:)
The ME2 Ash encounter is so annoying at the best of times because you have no real control but its more annoying when you romanced her
"Went from calling me a litteral God to a terrorist"
Me1: Ashley
Me2: tali
Me3: tali.
Sorry ash but tali beats you everytime :(
Garrus will be better partner for Tali, better then Shepard

Based Ashley forever.
How do you make these videos? Was thinking of doing something similar for dragon age.
Will see if I get to upgrade to legendary ed anytime soon, have run through the OG trillogy so many times anyway
Get The Ashley appearance mods for ME3 of you get it on PC
@@TheImapotato to avoid the long hair?
@@Ragnarok6664 and the makeup
@@TheImapotato nice, so a return to proper ME1
@@Ragnarok6664 Yes! I think it is more suiting
Would like to see each of Shepard Love for Ashley
I find it weird that they used the same cutscene for the sex scene with ash
Remeber when we didnt have to worry about how caracters were gonna be written in games? And they did this not for just one but many and all with their unique dialog and very realistic dialog and emotions. Shout out to the voice actors too, they were brilliant. Coming back to this the dialog is soooo good and realistic compared to the cringe in modern games. No wonder the industry isnt growing, it peaked.......
Damn... 1st comment haha
Another great video Mr Jaguar. 😎
0:56 damn her eyes
Cant help to wonder why they changed ashley williams appearance for mass effect 3?
Ash's growth is what makes me save her over Kaidan.
Is it just me, or is the music playing from 1:52:30 the song from Fleet and Flotilla that Tali sings?
It is. It's repeated in several romance scenes other than Tali - Jack IIRC as well.
Just wondering what is your face code for your Commander Shepard?
5A1.LHI.FGL.751.JLU.9DW.TRJ.6MQ.1D5.1JL.E7B.9 Have fun!😁

Hey man love the vids I have a question about ash, I can’t get the last conversation before the virmire mission. The convo that starts at minute 24:11, I did all missions and other conversations but this one won’t come up ?
Can you tell how got those armors in ME1? If it is mod, is it on nexusmods?
Looks way better than the GTA DEFINITIVE EDITION
01:16:25 damn Judas...>.
+1 for Gunny Chief Williams from me as well. Although I dislike what they did to Lt.C. Williams, making her into yet another Rule34 barbie. I kinda liked her tomboy get-up and can only excuse her doll-up for the casino heist.
I always loved ASShley Williams
She went from cute to Karen
