I attended the Spindale Hill Climb on Saturday April 27th, 2024. There were a total of 9 cars that entered the event along with two other cars that were there strictly for show. Test and tunes took place between 9:30-12:00 after a brief safety inspection and meeting with all drivers. The actual timed events began at 1:00 PM with the mayor of Spindale dropping the green flag to start the cars off.
At 1pm, Spindale Mayor Mickey Bland dropped the green flag for the official start of the Spindale 2024 Hill Climb.
Each driver had two runs and their best times of the two were recorded.
In the S-1 class, Mike Block won with his 1930 Coupe.
Max Hayward took the win in the S-2 class with his 1928 Fordor.
In the S-3 class, Jeff Hodge won in his early 1930 AA Truck.
Buck Wellborn from Boone, NC, won the ST-1 class in his 1931 Coupe.
ST-2 class was won by Chad Eaves in his 1930 Tudor.
Jeff Hodge took the win in the M-2 class with his 1931 Victoria.
The M-3 class was won by Mike Bogart from Troy, OH, in a 1929 Coupe. Mike and wife Debbie drove their coupe over 500 miles to attend the hill climb.
The SP-1 class had 2 speedsters entered with 6 driver’s total. Walter O’Neal and wife Joyce took turns in their # 28 car with Walter capturing “KING OF THE HILL”. Gary Justice, Mike Block, Jeff Hodge, and Shannon McCool took turns driving the #11 car. Shannon McCool from Gilkey, NC, not only won “QUEEN OF THE HILL” but also had the quickest ET of the event.

Very nice to see.
Years ago I attended the Newport, Indiana hill climb it was a lot of fun to watch.
This was my first and I hope to see another!
Newport Indiana has a hill climb every year in the early fall. They have an actual fairly steep hill you all should try. Many cars and a lot of history. It’s always a blast. 3 day event.
That sounds like fun!
I was just getting ready to ask him if he had ever been to Newport. I just might have a shot at a ride in that Huckster if he brings it with him!
Super, TX.
Welcome!
Don't you need hills for a hill climb?
You don't need much of a hill for these cars.
