    Self-effacing, humble and lovely to a fault. I have two of his “Signature” instruments from Paul Beard, a MA 6 and an MA 8, both signed by Mike, and I never missed the opportunity to listen to his brilliant playing, and watch his inspirational musicianship. I’m 81 next week, but I think of him every time I pick up my guitar. RIP, Mike, and thanks to one of my musical heroes!

    He died exactly three weeks after this video was posted. How blessed we are that he performed this one last time, and that someone made a technically fine recording. His style was unique. It was marked by his light touch. Jerry Douglas blows us away with power. Auldridge enchanted us with his haunting, lyrical touch. My favorite is "Tennessee Stud" on his "Dobro: Blues and Bluegrass" album. What's yours?

    He was a lovely human being and nobody, ever had better tone and more tasteful lines. Jerry Douglas would agree with me.
    RIP Mike, and thank you.

    Deep in the heart of the Slovak Republic is a small city called Triniva. There each year they hold a Doboro Festival in donor of the Dopyera Brothers who were from that lovely city. I had the homer and pleasure to attend this concert a couple of time in the late 90s and Mikes music was to be heard all over, His name way held in high donor. Great music, great musician!

    I never had the privilege to meet Mr. Auldridge, but his music was a part of my life over a thirty-five year period. Before the internet, I would spend hours searching music bins for his solo work or another Seldom Scene release that was never displayed prominently in the chain music stores. He will be sorely missed.

    The first time I heard The Seldom Scene, I had to get a Dobro. Mike was, and is, my hero.
    I'll never be a great Dobro player but I enjoy it every time I get one of them out.
    Thanks Mike. I'll never forget you

    Oh my sweet Lord!!!!! I don't always have internet access these days due to situations beyond my control, but I tried to get online tonight and WOWZA.......I followed up and got here via an addy on my ol' buddy Larue's reply to Poobah's email and yeah........I'm here with WET eyeholes listening to the best of the best for sure. That second guitar with only 6 strings just by a simple (to Mike) string change, and the "ADULT CHORDS" that were coming outa that instrument...........just amazing. O;-) Thanks for sharing this one. And a HAPPY HEALTHY PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR to all. Keep on pickin' (or listening if that's what y'all do,) the music KEEPS US YOUNG!!!!!
    Back to "lurk mode" (as opportunities permit."

    Mike auldridge was one of my influances and he was a musical icon when i first heard the sound of
    his dobro i said mom i think i would like to try that and that is why i started asking my.mom and dad to buy mẹ a dobro

    • @dannielsen4431
      @dannielsen4431 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Because I got interested in trying to make that zound
      A dobro is basicaly an acoustic guitar the only main differance is a regular acoustic guitar you hold it up to your chest but when you play the dobro you put the dobro on your lap and the strings are lifted off the fret board and you use a steel bar and a thumb pick but also a dobro is much louder thân a regular acoustic guitar the pros and cons of playing the dobro is unlike a regular acoustic guitar a dobro is more challenging to learn

      Ok' the question is ' did they buy you a Dobro?
      1 more question ' did you learn to play it ?
