@@josefinremo7921 I just saw the absurd amount of tracer rounds they were using earlier in the movie when the phalanx was firing so I figured that was the phalanx. Besides this is a movie, and I am no expert, but to me it would make sense for it to have a manual targeting mode as well as the automatic.
I forgave all the plot holes and all the other things wrong with this movie because the scene with the Missouri firing those big 16 inch guns forgave all sins.
And even though it was total BS, the "drifting" scene, when the old guy said "Lets drop some lead on those mother-".... lol

@roncyrebello6407 indeed its a in port or near disaster maneuver called club hauling, it was used only on wooden vessels but usually resulted in alot of damage, it has never been done on a steel warship
favorite part was actually when the ship got blasted and that old timer said: "No way they're gonna sink this ship, no way"

I don’t care what anybody says Battleship was such a good movie, not without flaws but still great.
Best way I heard it described was it is: This is either the most awesome dumb movie ever made, or the dumbest awesome movie ever made.

Just went on a cruise to Alaska last week. As our ship was prepping to leave Seattle, I saw a U.S. destroyer moored in Puget Sound from my stateroom, and (with binoculars) instantly recognized the white "53" on her side from one of my favorite movies.
Very cool to see it in person.

You do know the thing they are supposed to destroy, are submarines.....so yeah a destroyer would be heavily outclassed by an alien ship that has the firepower of a battleship...
@@hotshotx1598 well those alien ships aint the greatest either, multiple explosive maracas and the best weapon being a sentient metal sonic. Both of which are slower than missiles and shells
@@hotshotx1598 Destroyers were designed to hunt subs in WWII. Nowadays theyre allrounders. Anti surface, anti subsurface and anti air combat. Many of the VLS are also used for ground attacks. In Carrier groups, destroyers are the first line of defense against any threat
@@davidschiebel3208 fr tho I don't think for modern naval warfare we will be bringing out the big guns back. Back in ww2 the ones with the highest number of navy pilots win the fight most of the time. I'm gonna guess for modern times, whoever that brings the most missiles is gonna win.
I actually hated this movie when it came out because the plot was just so bullsh*t. But now I admired some of the scenes because they did a fantastic job with the CGI and showing the ship's weapons
This movie was unexpectedly so good. I enjoyed every second of it.
Science Fiction requires the suspension of disbelief. So I don't understand all the hate for this movie. I loved and enjoyed this movie but I guess that's mostly just me... "I Got This!" and "Calm down, okay? I'm gonna frigging save you!"...

What i noticed at 2:26, is i think it's an actual footage of a missile launch onboard a Burke Class Destroyer or Similar(probably a test run idk) but it's just something that caught my eye watching this. Lovely scene though from the movie!

I don't really care much about a movie's plot, just its ability to entertain me. And Battleship certainly did. Though it didn't have much of a plot, to me it was highly entertaining and action packed. Loved it.

This movie relayed pretty much themes of both ships playing a role, destroyer of modern age, all advanced and geeky, with pin-point accurate, destructive weapons, capable to spell doom and kick far above they weight class, meanwhile battleship is just big, sturdy, and erase radar directions.

The movie was awesome, I loved it but I noticed some things were inaccurate, like some times the CIWS was one version and then it was a other, also the USS John Paul Jones is a flight 1 arleigh burke class destroyer, and in some scenes it is a flight 2a, the flight 1 doesn't have hangars, the flight 2a does

Love the big, dumb movie if it's done right. So much made no sense and I wouldn't have it any other way because it was so much fun.
This is the problem with US. Too many hollywood war movies where they win everytime. They fight their actual wars with goat herders in flip flops and actually manage to lose and run after 20 years🤣🤣
If you understand 5% of the situation, this is your conclusion. Winning a battle is easy for the US. Winning a war is different.
While they do win in the end the scene right after this is where their ship gets sunk and a bunch of people die
Choi said it best. You don't understand recent history do you? America is great at winning BATTLES. Not so great at winning the PEACE (or at least long conflicts). If you can keep a War UNDER 12 months, the USA is unbeatable. It's long term attrition that gets us. And corruption. Also the military didn't just cut and run Afghanistan on it's own. The previous administration had a withdrawal plan that left a small advisory force in place and a guarantee to the provisional government that we would use air power and drones to help them. The current DEMENTIA patient in the White House just up and left, abandoning all our equipment and thousands of fellow AMERICANS to the enemy. The current POTUS is a disgrace. Don't blame the Military for that. Though our top Military general and the Sec of Def are currently idiots, though. :D

For the love of god I do love this scene but my one major problem with this is that they are firing two 50BMG rifles continuously with a 5in canon going off behind them without any hearing protection. Realistically, if anyone does that, they would have permanently destroyed their hearing. Overall great movie.
imagine how hilarious it would have been if the aliens have glass that is impervious to 50 cal rounds. all of that prep would have been for nothing and they would all sit their waiting to die looking dumb af lmao.
