The ultimak rail for the AK is exactly for a red dot. Not sure if that's an ultimak brand but I did that many years ago with a similar sight and never lost zero. Had probably 3 thousand rounds like that with zero issues. I know it's not practical if you never saw something like that but it does work. People that are mainly AR fans usually don't get why that sight is mounted on the gas tube.

That being said, you can't look at it in that way when choosing optic options. I sold that set up probably 8 or 10 years ago because I came to the conclusion that it isn't practical in the way I was trying to make it and I just needed to give into the AR market. So I did. That AK regularly say 300 yard shots with that mounting point. The only issue I think you really would run into other than that you just don't like the way it looks, is heat. I had a cheap primary arms micro dot on there and it regularly saw rapid fire heat cycles and held up just fine. I appreciate your opinion on the fact that you just don't like the way it looks but here's the fact... it still just works.

It served my intended purpose while I had it. I don't care how ugly or cheap or stupid people think it looks. In my opinion, it was an extremely effective way to introduce modern optics to the AK platform. Was it perfect? Absolutely not.

Technically oldschool swat guys running M4s with carry handles and a quad rail would mount eotechs up front because it's easier than having one mounted on the handle, can still use the irons, it blocks less of your view and it really doesn't matter up close. Aside from that on AKs the dust cover will not hold zero.
I cannot tell you how many of those H Point carbines we sell. For the price, they are hard to beat for home defense on a budget. Yes they are ugly, but they work. We have very few complaints. Now the Kel Tec 2000 and the new S&W folding carbine!!.....talk about junk!!! I dont expect a non gun guy like Rob to get it, but if it works, it works. I havent watched the whole video but if that Hi Point is new, it will run great and be accurate enough. Challenge..... Find a better carbine at rhe same price.....ill wait. Do I own one? The truth is, the Gold & Silver Pawn Shop does carry a wide selection of exotic firearms, but none of the weapons are made after 1898. The reason the shop sticks to strictly antique guns is because they do not have a Federal Firearms License.
Agreed. I've tried both ways. My dust cover mount is actually pretty solid though since it's an m92 hinged dust cover. Holds zero just as good as my quad rail mount

For those of you who don't know. The reason why these transactions went so quickly is because Rob has his CCW and that makes the background check go very quickly. Most of the time it should take about 30 to 45 minutes to know whether or not your transaction is a " proceed" or "hold". A "proceed" is when you pass your background and you can walk out with your firearm same day. A "hold" is pretty self-explanatory, that can take anywhere between a couple hours in a couple days. Holds are usually when you either didn't change addresses properly or have something weird on your record that needs further looking by the ATF and FBI and the will investigate further. For all of you non-americans or non southwestern's... I live in Arizona and get the same treatment Rob gets, but again that's because we went through all the process and classes and paid all of the fees to get our CCW.

Hi Point carbines are actually pretty amazing for the price.
Same if that AK was a wasr. Now if it’s a vska that’s a whole other story.

The carbine is actually much better than you'd think. It's a great beater to leave in the trunk or behind the seat in the truck.

I’ll be honest. I have a Hi Point carbine 40 cal and it has never failed me. Over 4K rounds through it and haven’t cleaned it once. No issues.
