@@eddyvideostarHi! I simply meant that it could have been a cliche. instead, the modulation is incredibly smooth; it doesn't feel like we're going to a distant key. EWF never ceases to amaze me, after all these years. I mean, perfectly-pitched hand percussion (in "September")? Here's a recent commentary on them: th-cam.com/video/FAgYcO_wTTo/w-d-xo.html
Fantastic! I was trying to learn this by ear and was having a lot of trouble. This confirms how many 'exotic' chords exist in this beautiful song. Thank you so much for this video.
You have to tip a nod to Foster, Graydon and Champlin...,yes, EW&F, did change the song to suit that high falsetto from Bailey, etc. but the basic chart has got to be considered one of the best jazz/rock fusion ballads ever......,but...,that extra modulation that EW&F thru in is unbelievable. This is the meaning of "lush life".
Geez - you really, really know what you're doing! Phenomenal video. The way you show the actual performance, coupled with your playing AND the chord diagram. That's just as good as it gets. Consider me a follower.
Markus Arike I'm just old enough to know who Foster is, and who he collaborated with. Working in the right business does help too... If you'd ask me something on contemporary R'n'B stuff, I would be rather lost.
Thank you thank you for this great learning tooL!!!! I have been trying to learn the bass part to this for a couple a years now, an you just made it so crystal clear for me!!! Thanx...God Bless....Geoff
I loved watching this, it helps me learn immensely when it's charted with the right extensions/flavors and watching your inversions. Great job, your musicianship is obviously top rate.
This is very good practice. For the advanced ones such as this, I would encourage you to display the chords as they would appear per their style of key signature. For example, when the chorus is going up by 4th's (the root note), once you get to measure 6 of the chorus, don't be afraid to display the chords as "Db..." :Gb...." & "Cb..." Just a thought - again, I like playing along with these. Thanks for posting.
Nice Job Sir! It is so important to nail the correct flavor in every chord! This you have done and I am a better player because of your video! Thank You
+MusikeXavier There's a few chord labelings that are off but the playing is spot on. I wish +bgmusic2010 would post more stuff. I really like and admire it.
Hey old shit, I'm sure you can't play anything. If you really think there are wrong chords by the uploader here, your hearing must be badly impaired. You are too old so just listen and stop commenting. Old piece of shit you are.
David Foster is a super genie. What a beautiful composition
I love his writing. This one to me is spicy and sweet, lush and wispy, endearing and stinging. I like all of it
The art of modulation, nothing sounds forced or trite. What musicians!
To Palmiras 100 I agree this is rotating modulation. However, I am not sure what you mean by forced or trite.

I played the synth and strings on this back in 1989 or so when this was done. Nice job!
Wait. You trying to tell me you were on stage? Or did you record the parts in advance? Either way, if you worked with EWF = 😮
@@jimmybuffet4970 On this performance I was playing off stage. From 1994-1997 I was onstage as the 2nd chair keys. It was a great gig!
@@muso4hire LEGEND

God,this is when they could really write songs,so many chords that mesh.
Woah!!!! Woah!!!! Woah!!!! I have needed this!! Thank you for putting it together
These guys are good. They are tight. They know how chords move. And they know what they are.
Casparus Kruger And they didn' compose this song. David Foster did (with Bill Champlin and Jay Graydon).
Detlev Spinell Wow, someone knows how to use google.
Markus Arike Believe it or not, there are people who do not need to use google for this...
Detlev Spinell You just happened to know the exact names of the three guys who composed an Earth, Wind and Fire song from over 40 years ago? OK.
Markus Arike I'm just old enough to know who Foster is, and who he collaborated with. Working in the right business does help too... If you'd ask me something on contemporary R'n'B stuff, I would be rather lost.
Man You don't how much you are helping. GREAT VIDEO!
Thanks David Foster for the Songwriting...! RIP Maurice White..!
Man your channel is a GOLDMINE for nice chords......and I'm not even a piano player ! Thanks so much !!

Holy dog shit! I did NOT think I’d actually find a breakdown of this masterpiece. You’re great! Thanks!
Very good!!! Perfect!!!
Awesome talent, the chords are so open and breathable. Love the camera feed.
Thank you
Excellent, thank you for sharing this, it would've taken me a year to learn this song!

I can't think of the name of the Earth, Wind, & Fire song at 0:00 to save my life!
Anybody know it?
I hope i can save your life after 5 years. It's "Can't hid love" by EWF
Is the G#M7 at 2:00 actually a G#mi7?
+diver90 yes, it is. I had to double check that myself because the G#M7 clashed with the harmony in the recording.
+diver90 Also the passing chord at around 1:53 labeled C#M7/B is actually a C#min7/B. The label is wrong but he plays the correct chord.
+MusikeXavier There's a few chord labelings that are off but the playing is spot on. I wish +bgmusic2010 would post more stuff. I really like and admire it.
+diver90 I agree with you 100%, the playing is outstanding and it helped me figure out some of the most difficult chords in that song.
great, thanks a lot.
What song is the intro?
a '2' chord is what an 'add9' chord used to be. A sus2 chord has the root, the 2nd and a 5th--no third.
Casparus Kruger Thank you! Dafaq is an F2 lmao
it's still add9 some people just have different names for depending on where and how they learned music
I've always known it as "2" chord but if I played it as add9, I would play the "2" in the next octave instead
Ken Francis That’s how I learnt it also.
1:08あたりで「まだ歌わんのかい!」ってなった
awesome simply
What is the name of the song played in the intro of this video?
Earth wind and fire "can't hide love"
Ken your wrong the title should be Earth wind and fire after the love has gone.
Cool
@tonadaasbl Yeah, that's what it is! I always forget this title. lol.
I really appreciate that.
i like your videos, but it would be easier learning from them if you took out the original video of the artist
Tasty!!!
this is really nice, but i can't even wrap my head around the fingering. it's gonna take a long while to figure it out. but thanks for posting it up.

trying to learn this but it's complicated I don't know none of those symbols mean but good video though
Brazil
that this chord is F2 thanks
F9, just add a G to the F
Thanx fucking 3 zillion2hundred and fucking 10 thousand and 2 times !!!!! Great!!!
@TheTomasito1971 Same thing, basically.
wow its very hard
That's what she said :')
What used to be right is wrong...
Too much. Tumeke forever.
Too many wrong chords here for my likin'
I think you're mistaken. These chords are spot on. What chords do you disagree with?
Please post your chord video for us.
+Casparus Kruger umm what wrong chords?
Hemi Arthur
It's been years since I posted this--I'd have to look at it again.
