Season 4, Episode 8. "American Dream" is a classic!!! Ben's line, "In a polite society sir, you never call someone by their first name unless you are asked to." and ..."you sir are NOT a colleague of mine". Great stuff and well portrayed acting by both characters.

God I love Stone’s smile at the end- watching the smug, confident killer Swan finally realize he’d lost- and all that smugness washed away- at that moment, Swan realized he was done. Out of options - and afraid. Stone deserved to see that- his smile was well-earned.
This was a GREAT episode- watching the smug, condescending, ‘superior’ Swan go down was quite satisfying for the viewer as well.

Jack McCoy had showmanship. Ben Stone had a less flashy but highly workman-like professional demeanor.

That is how to deal with a sociopath,
    1. recognize their efforts/feelings (a lot of effort to be back where you started . even it is with a pinch of salt here) 2. put him in his place (not discussing terms of the deal with him)
3.explain to him why he is out of place (rules in society regarding of calling someone by first name) , 4.establish clear boundaries (we are not friends) , good show of psychological skills of stone here.
