    Set NAV for departures that nav to an initial waypoint and only use heading if you are getting radar vectors to the initial waypoint. NEVER set Vertical speed prior to takeoff! Typically use FLC at 400 feet after takeoff or vert speed is possible at that time too. Many pilots will not use VS in climb, due to no airspeed protection. Some do though, depending on the situation. I often use it over FLC to keep the nose from hunting for the speed, especially as you get higher where performance decreases. There are other legit times to use it as well, but never set it prior to takeoff.
    In any case, wait until 400 feet AGL to set any vertical mode, usually the same times as flap retraction.

      Thanks for your info. Nav is good on takeoff if your fpl has the starting runway in the fpl if not then it's not a good idea to use nav on takeoff . However this series is not on how to follow procedures as I state in every video, this series is to help you understand how to use the g5000 and how to use the avionics/ ap in the plane and not on how and when you should use them. I'm not a pilot and am only doing these to help you understand the aircraft better.

    As others have said, really appreciate the manseq explanation. I've had that happen, and had no clue what was going on there. Also appreciate the discussion around the hard left on the way out of Key West. I've stepped in that puddle, too, and wondered why I was circling back to the airport when I hit nav on the AP. This whole series is phenomenal--thanks for doing these!

    Very nice video indeed. I have one remark though. When flying out the runway and making the left turn to intercept the active leg you clearly see your plane is not flying symetrical. The use of rudder is mandatory in each turn a plane makes (especially in HPA planes). Check out the skid slip indicator....

    Just a heads up on the 'manseq' waypoint. The reason that disconnects from the final approach is because you have vectors selected as the star in your landing config. If you select a star instead of vectors, it will connect the routes and you won't have that problem. hope that helps someone!

      @@2020fsers Thanks for quality videos. The Empty Weight %MAC slider is a fixed value. When the aircraft is shipped the FAA requires TCDS Type certification data sheet (includes fixed ref datum, fixed lemac, fixed MAC. See FAA website. The aircraft is then weighed by certified AMT at empty weight and this Empty Weight %MAC is posted in AFM. The slider in MFS for EW %MAC should be set once to this value. I use the default value of 29.2 (see reset button at bottom of page). The Center of Gravity value just below is the calculated number that one should plug into Trim values chart on checklist. Notice how it changes with varying wieghts. If CG out of range you have to adjust payload or fuel to bring in CG range.
      Honestly, how would you know if you are out of CG range if you manipulate this EW%MAC slider to put w/b in range. See FAA-H-8083-1B Chapter 2 and 3.
      No offense. You do a great job for not being a licensed pilot. The FAA Advanced Ground Instructor (AGI) and Instrument Ground Instructor (IGI) requires no air time and no endorsement, Costs about $200. You should get it!

    You will need ATC Approval to deviate from your Deoarture like that. There must have been a reason for that Published Departure to have that tight of a turn... Often, if that turn is not required, Departure Control will give you Vectors to a more comfortable Flight Plan intercept.
    Overall, excellent description of the Cockpit Procedures and WHY it is done that way. Makes the information much easier to remember, rather than simply do this, and then do this, etc. Some of my comments may seem to be "nit picking"; just filling in some real world experience.

    • @2020fsers
      @2020fsers  ปีที่แล้ว

      thanks for the comment and i understand what you are saying . yes you would need atc approval to deviate but this series is not on following proper procedures or talking to atc as there are many variables when atc gets involved, its more on how to operate and use the g5000 and the longitude , i went over that in the beginning.

    • @Hoekstes
      @Hoekstes 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The departure procedure would be “turn left heading x intercept y”. You don’t need to follow the magenta line to comply with the departure procedure. If a tight turn is required it would have included “remain within z DME of y”.
