Amanda, I pretty much am prepared for the beach like you, though, I have never had the oil. However, we keep the aloe in the cooler, for a more quick relief and I always have a folding hand fan and a wide brim hat.
I tend to always bring trash bags and a back up pair of hiking socks (since I tend to go to the beach only when I'm camping or hiking). Although I bet a coloring book + a hard surface could be really nice for the beach!
So definitely gonna have to try that baby powder idea. I recently found out after a day in the sun that a Hat is a must. I have very light thin hair and surprisingly my scalp got a little sun burnt. So a hat is no very close to me or a bandana. I love these videos and hope you enjoy your trip!!

My aunt also uses essential oils. She has this Rose Oil Stuff that if you put a drop of it into your bath water before you hop in, it will smell really good and be super relaxing. I think that it's a home-made product from a friend, but you might be able to find some online, or maybe you already have some.

My family goes to a beach with a lot of tar also, and we've found that baby oil works miracles with getting that stuff off! And it's way cheaper than a lot of the tar removers you can buy! :)
hey Amanda, my family makes goats milk soaps with essential oils and I thought you might like to know about neem. fair warning, it smells terrible, but it's incredibly good for your skin. promotes fast healing, it's antibacterial and antiseptic, and great for dry skin. i used it for my piercings and they healed in half the time with barely any fuss. That's all I wanted to say!

To make a sitting area that minimizes the mess sand makes, I always bring a fitted sheet to the beach. Put your coolers/bags/anything else in each corner of the sheet, and voila! You have a sitting area with a rim that keeps out sand :)

Well I have a towel that's made of bamboo so when you shake it all the sand comes off and they come in many cute designs with comfort!
