The B1B is just a badass bird. But more than that, I will forever love it for "bailing" me out. Myself and my team were in a real sh*thole area in Afghanistam, cut off from the main body of our element. We had no belt fed weapons and were about 1 mile from.main body amd we lost comms. The sun was about to rise, d9gs started barking as we crawled closer to try and get comms with main body. Didnt happen. We knew that if we tried to take off toward our guys the mongolian horde would focus on us and tear us to pieces. As the leader it was my call. We were about 9k ft above sea level in a valley with peaks over 14k to.the north. If youve ever been around a B1B you kn9w they are one of the loudest things ever created. With the sun peaking out we were screwed. But like God himsellf put it there, i heard this roar like no other from above the clouds to the east. All of a sudden this B1B breaks the clouds and shows itself. It wasnt there for cl9se air suppoert it was just moving through. But the pillot made a big circle and id later find out he called down to our main body to see if he was needed before he moved on. When i saw him starrt banking to pass again i told k guys we are going to have to risk running on the road through this .little hellhole of a taliban town. We ran past guys we knew were bad guys but they wouldnt do anything with that B1 there. By the time he pulled off, we were beyond the last qalat and within a minute we were beyond typical small arms range and within sight of main body vehicles. We laughed about it later but that B1B pilot saved my ass and he doesnt even know it. The LANCER will forever have a special place in my heart.
