This book is not great. It’s also 100 pages too long.
The best I read from Grisham was The Firm. That one was a massive bestseller for a reason. The Pelican Brief was also very good, as was The Client.
I gave up after The Client, because the movie came out within months of the book release, and the movie was nearly word for word taken from the book. This isn’t the end of the world, but it did feel like the book was written almost as a screenplay. That was a turn-off for me.
So read The Firm, and if you’re really into lawfare stories, Grisham might be for you.

Bad words in books or movies don't bother me, it's not like the book is celebrating racism, I think it's a great book and movie. I would put The Firm above it. Racism or any kind of hatred does exist in every country no matter the background and it will never completely disappear.

This book was based on a true story, but the author race swapped the characters. In real life it was two black men who attacked the little girl. Really interesting and racist how the author thought it was okay to portray white men as the criminals instead

    I recommend Joseph heller’s “catch-22”
