That Large Mouth was phenomenal! That would have been my dinner - filleted and dipped in cornmeal batter and fried up in olive oil and a dash of seasoned salt on an open fire in a skillet pan.
Wow- nice fish. Reminds me of being 40 years younger and floating down the Susquehanna for smallies on an overnight paddling trip with my buddies. Thanks for helping remember some great times.
I tried out one of my hellgrammites at Tecumseh Lake on Father's Day i haven't had any success with it yet I will probably have success with it later down the road
I got two packs of hellgys in the mail today -- never tried em before. Second cast I hooked up with a legal size, way back in his throat. Second fish swiped and missed my frog, so I threw a hellgy upstream in the rocks, landed him -- about the same size. Ended up breaking off on a rock, but it was worth $1 for two fish LOL. Definitely impressed with the material -- it's not like elaZtech -- it kind of gets this pearled slime-film on it after it's been in the water a while, so I just let them hold it in their mouth for two counts and got a full reel set on em, Gama 1/0 stinger buried back by the crushers. This might end up being the only bait I target brown bass with all summer, it's that good. It's a lot easier than trudging through the water, kicking up rocks, and seine netting for the real thing and works just as good! True believer, now.
bass pro shops hellgrammite and nikko work really good anywhere... my dad caught 7 bass and a crappie all on the hellgrammite... i didn't even know hellgrammites were a thing til i started watching this channel haha
Lucky you with it being cloudy floated Cordell Hull about 3-4 miles then floated Cane Hallow to Burgess Falls yesterday both days sun blazing pretty much...☀️
That looks like really good times even when you are catching big smallies. Have fun and keep reeling them in. That's on my bucket list to pack up the kayak and camp on a river bank.
Awesome trip. You might consider taping a paper measuring tape to your kayak paddle using clear packaging tape, it would save you from having to pack along the fish ruler and it would be right at hand if needed.
You put me on that nikko hellgrammite kick my man and i cant stop buying them love the natural the most..your videos are the best i live in nj and the winter is tough tough tough ..god bless and keep on keeping on and fishing on.🐟🔥
Man, you guys are killin me! Throw back the 2 lbs+ but the 1 to 2 are perfect eatin size! And there are tons of em! Would like to see a little catch and cook! But you do what you want. It's your trip! Fish on guys!
You need to get with NDYak. He is a youtuber in North Dakota who fishes for Smallmouth in North Dakota and Minnesota. I love both your shows and the way you both fish. I would really enjoy a video of you guys fishing together.
Very, very nice video. Now, I want to praise you for downsizing the power of the rod. By doing so, I don't believe (as some are saying) that you're catching less fish. What I do believe I that you're giving the fish a chance for a big fight, and therefore increasing your fan/emotion. It is really nice to see the rod bending while the fish fights.
At work today, around 3pm, I thought to myself that its about time for a video from you. Get home from work at 5, and there is is. I would love to try kayak fishing. Great video
This is an incredible investment that didn’t break the bank. It’s very stable, in fact my 13 yr old daughter will sometimes stand in it and use it as a paddle board
Nice one....You went back to the catch phrase early of "Fish on!"...thought you went away from it because I heard it on another show. Kayak fishing is awesome to watch and I never just feel like I would be good at it. Nice video
I brought some Hellgrammite baits because i Watch your videos. I have yet to catch a fish with them. That Said, the overnite fishing/camping trip looks like great fun. I would love to do that one day! Stay Blessed!
Man that look's fun. I gotta get out on the Mississippi and try that. But I was born and raised in Milwaukee and I have caught some giant smallmouth and trout. I know great lake's fish are bigger but I've still found some nice spots in western Wisconsin that have some pretty big trout. Opening weekend I caught and released a 24.75in brown trout that I probably should have put on the wall and lost one that was all of 28in. Great video, those were some some nice fish you caught.
I been wanting to do an overnight trip down the Holston. What were your put in and take out points and where did you all camp? I have done a 3 day 4 night trip from Norris Dam to Melton Hill dam before. It was amazing! Love the videos!!
Hellow John, I watch all of your videos and enjoy them, have turned all my buddies onto your videos, thx for all the great watching, I have a question fir you, I live just south of Nashville, I’m not a young guy but still having fun, I’ve been riding off road for the last 51 years now, but love creek and river fishing, wade most afternoons in the spring, summer and fall, now to my question,me and some of my buddies would love to do a float ,fish, and camping trip, well really more than one, any advice would be appreciated and tennessee locations or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, that’s keep up the great job
With the size of those bass, bet you were wishing you were in one of the Tournaments. Guess you have me sold on the Hellgrammite. But only if they work that well in Texas.
you are just out there for fun, you aren't really serious about catching the big ones - fairly accurate - of course you will still catch a good fish now and then but way less than if you were targeting #carnie #even god is doomed
Do you have a favorite rod? Abu Garcia, Lews, Ugly stick? I'd say my favorite as of now is my Berkley cherrywood graphite 7ft medium. I just keep throwing different spinning reels on it. Its hard to give that one up lol.
Great video! Did you all see any public areas to camp on that river? Would love to do that river for overnight but heard most land is private...nice spot you all were able to use...good video as always!!
Thanks for taking me along.
That Large Mouth was phenomenal! That would have been my dinner - filleted and dipped in cornmeal batter and fried up in olive oil and a dash of seasoned salt on an open fire in a skillet pan.
Hey brother my son, my best buddy, he has autism but he absolutely loves your videos. I appreciate you, God bless!
Wow- nice fish. Reminds me of being 40 years younger and floating down the Susquehanna for smallies on an overnight paddling trip with my buddies. Thanks for helping remember some great times.
A beautiful stream and ..... Fish ON! Yeah!
It amazes me at the amount of fish that hellgrammite catches..
I tried out one of my hellgrammites at Tecumseh Lake on Father's Day i haven't had any success with it yet I will probably have success with it later down the road
Same here. No luck with it yet
