    My mistake: I say in the video it’s my first time using the Foundation stock. I remembered I have actually used it once before during a different video. Old guy brain. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Excellent video and kudos to your Son who looks like he might just be a competitive shooter !! Makes me proud to see a Father actually include his Son in activities other than videos games. Well done to both of you !!.

    I understand that based on the POI you adjust the velocity input on your ballistic calculator. Assuming that you hit low, then it would mean that your velocity is lower than your original assumed muzzle velocity. If it hit higher than your waterline, then the velocity is higher than what you first assumed. My question is how much do you adjust the velocity by? Does the Kestrel do that for you based off how many Mils you missed from the POA? Please note, I am not a long range shooting, but I just love watching your channel. Would love to see how the Kestrel works.

    • @PrecisionRifleNetwork
      @PrecisionRifleNetwork  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Really appreciate this kind of comment.
      You are understanding the process correctly. You use your reticle inside your scope to measure how far off of your intended aiming point you are. Most precision scopes have reticles like that. Doesn’t work with just a “duplex reticle” b/c there are no hashmarks.
      Once you have that, you can adjust your drop data up or down. Once you’re hitting right where your aiming, you read the mils or moa on your elevation turret.
      Then you play with velocity in your kestrel until it causes the solver to line up with what you were seeing on paper.
      Not sure if I’m making sense.

      @PrecisionRifleNetwork I might be mistaken, but I believe the hornady 4DOF, and applied ballistics app both have features that allow for this method to "true" velocity of your rifle. I like your method as zeroing at such a close range allows for a very precise zero with virtually no influence of wind. Great video!

    Awesome video big fella 👍. I must say that I was surprised that the view through the scope particularly out the longer distances was not very clear. Is it the scope or the trigger cam ?

    • @PrecisionRifleNetwork
      @PrecisionRifleNetwork  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      TriggerCam. And the mirage was bad. Also moisture in the morning air making it hazy.
      Trust me there’s nothing wrong with Zero Comp glass. 😉

    Appreciated the resoning for switching from velocity to ballistic coefficient beyond 700-800 yds.. Question: Were you using a G1 or G7 BC adjustment or does it matter? Second: shouldnt you have gone back to 300 yds, where you started to verify the adjustments were actual?

      @PrecisionRifleNetwork it's great timing on the video. I am actually getting ready to do the same for a 6.5 creedmoor with a PA GLx scope on it. I like the idea of 300 yard start for 6.5. I definitely have more to go to true my dope.
