  • Welcome to another instalment of Psychology Skill of the Week with school Psychologist Dr Carla Humphrys.
This week Dr Humphrys talks about 'Family Conversations' and the idea of asking questions to stimulate family conversation and improve connection.
    Some examples of questions include:
Which TV show would you pick to live inside of for a week?
What are the most important things you have learned from your family?
What is the most beautiful place you have ever seen?
If you could go back in time and give your younger self advice, what would you tell yourself?
It is important to ask your child first, then answer the questions yourself. Choosing them together, or taking turns choosing, helps with getting buy-in from your child. There could be some resistance at first, but more often than not they can turn into something really fun.
