well.. americans can maintain consistency at a particular thing pretty well, most of the indian youtubers give big big lectures about pros of brahma muhurta and they themselves failed to do it when they take the challenge, getting out of your comfort zone is a big deal itself, and it is very much essential to make great things posssible in life!

That’s because Indians never lived out of comfort zone with the exception of few. They live with their parents till they get married. On the other hand, Americans has better survival talents than Indians. Most American kids will start working at the age of 16 and take care of themselves without depending on their parents.

I got up between 3 and 4 in the morning for years, naturally, and I never knew that a thing called Brahma Muhurta existed, till about 10 years back, when I heard of it for the first time while going through the Inner Engineering program of Sadhguru. I continue to wake up between 3 and 4 even now.
Here are a few pointers to what I do, and what I think you could have done better.
    1) Waking up early does not mean you have to sleep early too. The mistake we make is to think that we need 8 hours of sleep and we need it in one eight hour block.
    2) I have observed that I (and increasingly my partner has also been accustomed to this) perform best if I have 7 hours of sleep in a day, broken into two blocks, of 5hr30min and 1hr30mins.
    3) I go to bed at 10pm, which is fairly decent time to cook dinner starting 6pm and finish having dinner between 7.30pm and 8pm. I usually watch some TH-cam, catch up on the news, or read between dinner time and bed time. A tired brain sleeps well.
    4) My day starts at 3.30am. The first thing I do is take a shower and brush my teeth. That makes the lethargy evaporate. After that I spend about an hour in yoga and meditation practices. I've noticed that weather permitting, doing these in the open terrace under the sky is always more invigorating than doing it inside. Usually by the time I am finishing, the sky is brightening with the first hints of daylight. I always feel happy seeing this. Grateful for my life, and happy.
    5) My work day starts at 5am. I always try and finish the majority of my day's responsibilities and duties by 8am. Because this timing between 5 and 8 has least distractions, I usually am successful in doing so. It also leaves me a lot of time in the day to enjoy other things.
    6) I usually dose off for a siesta after lunch for an hour and half, sometimes two. This ensures my body feels rested for the rest of the evening till bedtime at 10.
Essentially what I am saying is you can think about breaking up your sleep cycle into two parts. It'd help.

    • @GarimaSingh-hv3cd
      @GarimaSingh-hv3cd 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Thank you for putting it out this way. I think breaking up your sleep window literally helps in increasing the productivity and keeping you active throughout the day. For people who are working post lunch can surely go for a quick power nap of 15-20 mins.

It's not that we have to wake up exactly at 3.40 AM. We have to wake up at 3. AM , clean up our stomach and sit for meditation by 3.30 AM. I sleep for only 6 hours and that is sufficient for me. I do also follow healthy low carb diet and mostly doesn't eat anything before going to bed. I don't have anything for dinner. I became in-sync with what's Sadhguru's saying, my eyes open automatically at around 3:30am and I am so fresh that I can't explain. Very alive. It's like the switch is turned on. You don't force yourself open at that time. It should happen automatically. It happens automatically, you don't need to have any sense of time , you only wake up at around 3:30 automatically, no force remember, no need to have some sense of time.
You need to do some Sadhna for that.
Try to become aware of the point when you switch from wakefulness to sleep when you go to bed, by Sadhguru.

In pre-industrial India, afternoon was always time off. It's too hot to work, and obviously we tend to feel sluggish after Lunch .

I'm a doctor.i used to work in remote
Forests in the hills of Kerala and used to have night shifts , day shifts , sometimes had to work 36 hours straight without sleep(just power naps) It was so stressful tht I had to quit . Later I couldn't sleep at nights. Than I started doing yoga meditation. It took a while to get back my circadian rhythm. Now I'm waking up at 4am and I listen to Vishnu Sahasra Namam every morning.

You waking up naturally at 3:20 is something similar to enlightened state... You cannot not force and achieve that state in 30 days in a way you wish.
Your whole inner dimension has to shed it's older compulsive self and become a conscious one.
And since that did not happen, you have concluded that there is nothing special about 3:20 and it's natural
You cannot expect do the wrong things and expect the specific results😂.
Wishing you a wonderful day ahead.

Ancient Hindus divided the night time in four phases called "Pehar". And it is believed that the fourth Pehar is not meant to be asleep i.e from 3A.M up until sunrise. This time is known as "Brahma Muhurat" means God's time or maybe god's realisation time. It is believed to be the best time to come in contact with the supreme. In one of our ancient scriptures it is written that the one who sleeps even after sunrise loses all his wealth, health and Prosperity.

I think it's for people who do yoga and meditation. It's the best time to do these practices. And if you do it you also don't have to sleep for 8 hours to feel fully rested.
Well if you want to follow Sadhguru the whole process is to first do inner engineering online, get initiated into Shambhavi mahamudra and then do the practice daily. And then maybe you would be receptive enough to wake up naturally at 3:40

I went through what Sadguru mentioned for almost 2 years... It was the time i went through my spiritual awakening.. I did not force it... I agree that some amazing things happened to me during that time... I think i was not brave enough to handle those changes to be honest.. Because i was also going through a lot in life at that time...
Im lucky to have experienced it..many great artists, scientists said to have experienced divinity too during that time ..its almost like travelling to work at 4 am versus at 8.30 am when there is traffic...

I used to wake up at 4 in the morning when I used to work in first shifts. It simply does nothing other than make you feel more lethargic by afternoon. It may have been good for people who used to sleep by 7 or 8 p.m. when there was no electricity, but certainly not now. Dont accept things from any person or scriptures without using your brain. We need at least 7 to 9 hours of good sleep to feel refreshed.

He said that when you become in sync with a larger system and the lethargy in your body is minimal (opposite of having pizza for dinner) your body becomes awake in certain moments where the energy is intensely upsurged.

    Gurudev Sri Sri says:
    1. if u fall asleep before 10 PM one hour of sleep will be equivalent to 2 hours of sleep otherwise.
    2. brahma mahurat can be understood in analogy with traffic condition. between 3.30 AM and 6 AM the traffic to divinity is very less and your spiritual processes and prayer reaches the divine easily. at other time if u practice spiritual techniques it is like driving during rush hour traffic.

I used to wake up at 4 but I couldn't continue because my routine doesn't match my family's and I can't have my dinner before 9 and sleep before 11. So I used to sleep just for 5 hours. It's consequences were terrible as there was pain in my body and I always felt tired. Now I wake up at 5 am. It's much better now as my body has got used to it.
My only regret is that I wake up early and still it's not the time of Brahma Muhurta.

My sleep breaks around 3 to 3.30 am regularly almost everyday. I understand the importance of Brahma muhurta and usually awake around that time. The mind is very weak during that time and is susceptible to any kind of thoughts. It is challenging to control during that time as temptation to indulge in fantasy is high. I normally love to divert attention towards my professional issues and hardly pray or meditate. This is because I don't wish to get up instead try to catch sleep and complete my schedule of 5-6 hours of sound sleep. I meditate by blanking my thoughts to Immediate surroundings and this too is quite hard at times.
