I got my student loan in Liverpool back in the mid 2000's. Was 18 at the time, and just discovered dance music and pills (ecstasy was a big thing then, mdma pills called mitzis were everywhere), so one afternoon after getting blitzed with mates, decided to blow about 700 quid on a couple of direct drive decks, 150 on a mixer, before hailing a taxi, whose driver helped me put them in the back, drove to Richer Sounds to pick up speakers, equpiment and cables, left them in the taxi while I dashed into the store, spent another 100 or so, pushed the trolley of my goodies outside to load into the taxi, but wait, no taxi. I was sat next to my recent purchases on a store trolley crying for sometime. Am 33 now and still shudder when recalling that night!
You’re a student and a TH-camr, I think it’s perfectly fine. As long as you’re not spending waaaay more than you make, your good. And experiences are so important to spend on!!!
Fainted @£210 in one day 😳😂I used to make £40 stretch 2 weeks at uni & now I work as a nurse and I still canny afford that! You live your best life gal!
I’ve had two credit cards with a total debt of nearly £10,000. I'm 30 and work in retail, and thankfully my first credit card which I got when I was 21 is paid off, my mum is helping me pay these off which means I’m living on £300 a month on my debit card, so I can’t really buy clothes or bags etc as I have way too many clothes and I can’t go to festivals as I want to go to a few gigs this year. I have to be strict and decide what gig I want to go to, also when you go shopping for clothes ask yourself “will I wear this a lot or will it sit in my wardrobe?” And “do I really need it?" I’ve said those to myself and I’ve used that money to buy gig and wrestling show tickets which lead to fab memories of seeing my fave band and wrestlers. It’ll take time and lots of discipline, but don’t get a credit card, unless you can pay it all off. Tbh, financially they’re dangerous. X
Since the start of this term I've spent on average £31 a week! I track all my spending each week and it really helps you see where your money goes and where you can cut back:)
Heyy loved this video and thank you for being honest and showing receipts etc we really appreciate you being your real you!!! Would love to see more of these
I’d 100% put your uni accom as same gender because I’ve lived with both boys and girls and it’s very very rare you get tidy boys. Girls aren’t great either but a lot more likely to get tidy girls. Also if you can afford it, definitely get your own bathroom! I didn’t have one last year and shared with three other girls and it was a nightmare! I hope this is helpful and I know I’m not Megan but I thought maybe my experience could help too x
Jasmin Appleby Thank you! I don’t know whether to put it as you don’t know if you’ll be put in with girls who are like ‘anti-men’ and I’m not I just want some good girl friends and I’m afraid I’ll be in a flat with just guys aha! Yeah I think I’m gonna get an en suite cause I think it would be chaos sharing!x
I had a very different experience to the other person who replied. I lived with 2 boys and a girl and the girl was the messiest person I've ever met whilst one of the boys was neither tidy nor messy and the other boy was really tidy. I think it all goes down to whether you get on better with boys or girls. I get on well with boys so was fine to share with them, whereas I have other friends who feel a lot more comfortable around just girls. I would agree with the bathroom situation. If you can definitely get your own. It can be so inconvenient with sharing as they might need to use it at the same time and you have people taking your stuff so have to remember to take it in and out each time you use the shower. Whatever you decide, hopefully you end up with a good bunch of people and enjoy your experience!!
I didn't put same gender but ended up in uni accom sharing with 11 other girls.... It was clean but it also had a lot of downsides too (quite a bit of bitching and arguments, people get extremely aggy over cleaning). It was a lot more chill when I lived with boys and girls but it depends on your preferences. Also.. girls can be messy too!
Loz I’m glad you mentioned the bitchiness. I personally didn’t experience it but a few of my friends who lived with a large number of other girls said it became very cliquey. Apparently there was a lot of whispering to each other and dirty looks and it became an unhappy place to live.
honestly its so doable keep into account all the extras I bought! festival tickets, train tickets, birthday presents, the skirt! all not usual expenses!
I usually spend like £70ish but there have been plenty of weeks where I’ve spent £50 or less & even that’s including treating myself to the occasional thing! £55 is definitely doable you’ve just got to be careful & not waste it all on alcohol
megan short walkabout Wednesday omllll that que is almost criminal though but it’s so cheap can’t even complain 🤣😭 pinging off your nut n the lights going ahahaha brilliant
Train from Leeds to Manchester is only 15 quid single, that’s cheap 😳 This video makes me feel so much better about spending too much money and being in uni. Luckily I work as well so it’s not too bad
That’s all my expenses for a month 😂 rent, bills, and everything else I spend. though tbf I’m saving to buy a house so I only buy food and £4.10 cinema tickets for fun 😛
Loved this it was so interesting seeing as I’m going to uni this year! I saw you mention that you know the original source shower gel being 100% vegan and cruelty free- just thought I’d mention Incase you didn’t know that all Superdrug own brand products are also 100% vegan and cruelty free and maybe a little bit cheaper I’m not sure?! Xx
I don’t know if it’s just me but I found it uncomfortable when you said you owed ur friends like £1 and vice versa . It’s so little money and u guys live together so like i actually don’t know how to word it but if uno what I mean then yeah 😂 weird friendship
yeah we say this we’re not like it with our home friends but at uni it’s always the same people getting uber’s & the same people not so it’s just fair if we all always split it, you don’t know everyones situation so just nice to make sure it’s all even i guess 🤷🏽♀️
megan short I feel like everyone at uni is like this - at uni £1 seems like a lot more money than normal 😂 & if no one pays you back for an Uber it just adds up so much!
Uber eats does free delivery when someone in your area is ordering from places so I just wait for subway to go up and just searched for uber eats promo codes for the 50% off ahaha
that jacket ur wearing when ur explaining about going to get balloons Ana is trypophobia it looks like that thing with all the holes freaks me out but it’s still a nice jacket
That's actually not too bad honestly, especially if it's Leeds to London or Kent. When I looked at trains from Kent to Liverpool the other day they were over £150 😭
@@Hannah-kq4rf Maybe it's the distance covered rather than how long it takes idk (like anything between counties is most likely a high speed covering lots of miles, so more expensive) it is crazily expensive in general here though - in Belgium I paid £150 to travel the whole country for a year on public transport vs £700 for a local bus in Kent for a year haha
they do it to make it fair between them because it all adds up and you don't always know your other flatmates personal situation so its just to make it fair and its super easy to just use Paypal or any banking app to quickly transfer the money.

The beggining made me STRESSED 😂 there's a tiny clip of the beggining where you say hello then it cuts to the intro clip then bac to you saying hello
Kawasumiii Creates oh my god that’s scary

Fainted @£210 in one day 😳😂I used to make £40 stretch 2 weeks at uni & now I work as a nurse and I still canny afford that! You live your best life gal!
it was only because I bought a festival ticket !!! 😭 I could really do with some tips lol

Random question but did you put on your uni accommodation ‘same gender’? Trying to work out what to do for this year x

Holy moly I spend between £70 and £90 a week as a student this is maddddd - how can you afford this? Your total week spend is my two month budget 😬
Instead of getting trains everywhere.. what about a Mega bus? They might take longer but they’re SO cheap
when you pay for your uni in the UK, is your accommodation included in the fees ? or do you organize that independently ? what do most students do ❤️
A FRANK OCEAN NIGHT. wow, i’m going to leeds.
Those 3 shower products you showed are the exact 3 products I use... coincidence!
Going to uni in September and ill be on £55 aweek, this has not filled me with self confidence
honestly its so doable keep into account all the extras I bought! festival tickets, train tickets, birthday presents, the skirt! all not usual expenses!

Angela Smith every little helps when you’re a student
Maya Garg absolutely agree, but this is not average student spending when you’re spending hundreds on tickets here and there!
