      Nothing moral requires authority. Authority is the claim to the exclusive exemption to morality. It is a monopoly on violence. Violence is a violation because it is the initiation of aggression, not self-defense. Offense/defense are ontologically distinct. All crime has a legal equivalent (ie, taxation is extortion).

      You are legally compelled via the logical fallacies Ad Populum, Ad Baculum and Ad Verecundiam to pay for protection that they are not legally obligated to provide. That's a mafia.

      Here is my two cents worth to your comments. SCOTUS ruling "Cooper vs. Aaron 1958a.d. No Legislators, executives or judicial officer "Can War against the U.S. Constitution, if you just swore an Oath to support it!"
      When you take public government to court or you send a letter to your county supervisors (bullies) and they are legally served (no lawsuit from me). Public officers holding public office will back down!

    Very good decision by the court here against the SEC. Would really go against the entire premise of the separation of powers of the branches of government otherwise and that would erode the rights of the citizenry against the 'state'.

    My father thought a lot about the WSJ but I am sad. Requiring that everyone who is policed by the SEC must have a trial will have the long term effect of being unable to hold these fraudsters accountable. They don’t have the funding for a full jury trial because Congress doesn’t allow them enough funding. The American people will have much less protection from these mega rich hedge fund managers. The SEC Of s one of the only ways these arrogant bastards can be held accountable. Please check out the other side, people.😢

      That's not the opinion of the court. Not even close. Did you even listen to the discussion? Starting an argument with a demonstrably false straw man is a poor way to attempt to influence opinion.

    • @iangantner6976
      @iangantner6976 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Wow. That’s definitely a take. I’ll give you mine, EVERY US citizen has the right to a trial when accused of a crime. The Constitution did not create the SEC or an SEC court/tribunal. Their power, at most, should be limited to oversight and consultation on legislation, never enforcement.
      As another point, where do you suppose the money from SEC fines goes? The SEC keeps a substantial amount of those billions. If they don’t have money to operate on the fine income alone, they should be thoroughly vetted and possibly disbanded.
      I also have a question, why the hate of “mega rich hedge fund managers”? Why does someone’s wealth affront you so? Warren Buffet has been managing money for DECADES.. He is also documented as the single biggest donor to charity in the US (maybe in the world). Do you hate him because he “works on Wall Street?”
      Jim Simons ran a hedge fund. Also, huge philanthropist. We can skip Soros and Bloomberg, because they are very political, BUT they donate A LOT OF MONEY, whether you like where they allocate it or not.
      The narrative that everyone who is rich is evil doesn’t match reality, and there is nothing inherently evil about making your money managing money for others.
      In fact, when done well it’s a win/win proposition.
      Most people can’t name a single hedge fund manager who is defrauding people without looking it up first. Sam Bankman Fraud is a possible exception, but a lot don’t know his name either. You may have to go back to 2009, Bernie Madoff, to find a name that many have heard. Does that suggest that there are vast numbers of evil “hedge fund managers” stealing money?? It happens, for sure, but there isn’t a parade of felons stealing money from grandma on a daily basis. Certainly, not enough to justify the SEC becoming its own branch of government.

      @@markg4459any uniform court is bad though. There’s a reason that the US originally had the vice president be the one who lost the election. The Supreme Court currently is majorly republican with a 6-3 ratio. Even as someone with republican beliefs it doesn’t make sense for a two party country to have such a heavy majority in its Supreme Court. US govt is for the people if someone as large as SCOTUS isn’t representing half the country well it is not a good court.
