I purchased 2 900mhz. Retevis rt10. I actually like this band. Got it to transmit direct through 8 floors Of a Hosp before it started breaking up in Dmr. Mode. Thank You for the Video. Wish I could afford a Mot. Which I'm sure would work better

There are several classes of ham licenses, but I think they all cover 900 mhz. You'd have to look that up, but I know my ham license covers it. There are also unlicensed users on 900 mhz, but as a ham using a repeater you need a license.
I have a 900MHz XPR 5550e 900MHz when i use the CPS to program in 33cm frequencies it will jump above to 935 or below to 894 after you enter them how did you get the frequencies into the CPS? does it have some kinda out of range hack like the older radios?
@@rodrickbourque I'm told this edit will only work on CPS 16.x or lower. Not on the newer 2.0 CPS. If you are using 16.x or lower maybe there is another problem that is causing the solid tone. For instance if the radio is expecting a repeater, but isn't reaching the repeater you'll get a solid tone. Maybe program for simplex and see if that works.
@@joshbloom9646 I set it for simplex. Running version 16. No idea why it refuses to Tx. As soon as I program the minimum frequency CPS normally allows, it transmits no problem.
If the programming software allowed for it, it should work. I've seen that radio on the internet, but have not been able to find it for sale anywhere. Have you seen it for sale?
Why does the hack program want you to add an ANALOG channel in a Zone when it's DMR? Shouldn't that be DIGITAL? Wondering because DMR channels need color codes and other settings?
If you've done the hex edit correctly you'll be able to add an analog or DMR channel. Keep in mind that the DMR feature is an option on the XPR radios. Not all radios have that option. If yours does not have that option you won't be able to add a DMR channel, analog only. I hope that helps.
It works throughout the entire band, but I'm told receive is not as sensitive lower in the band. So for simplex channels better to be closer to 927. I'm not certain this is the case, but it's what I've been told. The hack that allows these radios to work in the Ham band does not work on the newer CPS. Starting with the CPS 2.0 release a couple years ago I don't know if it's possible to get the radio into the Ham band. But there are still radios for sale that haven't been reprogrammed recently and work with the older 16.0 CPS and will go into the Ham Band find. Good luck.
@@joshbloom9646 OK, perfect, thanks. I might try one in the near future. Right now I am using a modded MTX9250 and it works great across the entire band. :-)
No. The 7580e is a 900 mhz radio. The 6100 is going to be VHF or UHF, but not 900 mhz. You need two radios on the same band for simplex radio to radio communications.
building a 900mhz DMR Repeater. It will rock!
How did it work out?
Alinco did make a 900 mhz HT a couple years ago. It was analog only and did not do DMR, plus it's been discontinued.

From beale afb. In marysville. Pave paws. Uhf over the horizon radar. Since hams are secondary on uhf their use has been limited in pwr

Thanks for the video. I own the 6580. Great radio
does not work with DMR.. only analog.
6580 does DMR all day long! @@spmadeez

Does it cover you in Canada since that band is no longer used by cellphones
@@galax574Different ITU regions allocate different bands to amateurs. Europe gets 4m but not 900MHz, in the US it's the opposite.

Tyler look at my link in the description. It gives direction to get XPR radios to work out of band.
