This is such a fun workout. When I first got this game I could barley make it 20 minutes on easy. Now, a few weeks later, I can do 74 minutes on medium. Cancelling gym membership I never used, VR workout is where its at.
I picked BoxVR up on Steam for $14.99 about a week ago. So far I've been doing 2 sessions a day, 15-30 minutes each. It's a great workout on my Rift S. And it beats my usual walking or bicycle riding since the weather turned cold. The last thing I want to do is go outside in 30 or 40 degree weather. And I would recommend it for everyone, especially seniors like me. :) Edit: haven't had any fogging problems with the Rift S. And, yes, I've used my own tracks for a couple of workouts.
@@GregKrsak all the reason i needed to buy it was that it was a boxing game and it had online mode and i gotta say its fun also if your playing this game you wanna room in where you can step back left and right
@@GregKrsak I've only played the demo. I got my KO has improved with each play through. If it wasn't for the arcade slow mo, I would reco Creed over Thrill of the Fight.
I just started this game about a week ago and I absolutely love it. I previously spent way more money on a physical boxing membership and wasn't nearly excited about it, ended up being a waste of money, plus didn't like touching other things people sweated on. This is much more fun (and hygenic) and I am sucking wind and pouring sweat in 30 min. Plan on doing this 6 days a week! Well worth the purchase!!
I started working out with BOX VR about 4 to 5 months ago. I started with the easy level for like 20 minutes. Then I went to the medium level then the hard level and went for an hour. Then I started adding weight on to each hand and wrist using weighted gloves and wrist weights. Used a half-pound on each hand then one pound than a pound and a half. I kept adding weight and time on and am currently at 81 minutes and 45 seconds and 3 pounds on each hand. I have enough weights to go up to 3 and a half pounds.
@@BayBuhFrank I do it 6 days a week. I'm now up to a little over 85 minutes each session. Still, 3 pounds per hand but will go up to 3.25 pounds probably next week. I like to make sure I'm very used to the weight before I add more.
@@BayBuhFrank I'd also recommend buying (or 3d printing) a knuckles-style grip for the controllers. I'm using (Adidas) weighted gloves and it's really hard to grip the tiny controller shaft for an hour or so with the gloves without any mods. Plus, I'd recommend a shadow boxer / resistive band over wrist-mounted weights, as the latter aren't all that healthy for the actual wrists, gloves more evenly distribute the stress. I've been doing this 6 times a week though and it def helps build stamina (and posture). It shouldn't be the only workout though.

One of the main reasons I purchased my Oculus Quest was for the fitness possibilities. I downloaded and added a minimum of 30 minutes of BoxVR as well as some other applications/games to my fitness regime. BoxVR is my favorite!
I actually found this game hard at first- hitting the targets - but now after a month playing 4/5 days a week I love it and enjoy it. I do 30 mins of box vr then 30/45 mins of beat saber. This has been a great way for me to slowly lose weight! So much better value then gym membership. Also i only live in a small house. But you can do the workouts in a small space. so its really amazing1
Good review. I didn't get the quest for fitness but i'm finding it excellent for work outs. That $29 price tag seems worth it to me since it's a very healthy work out and you really can't put a cost on that..also $30 is about a month gym membership but this you'll actually use.
I literally bought the quest JUST for this. I hate working out at home with every cell in my body and this will definitely make it bearable and actually fun. And when the gyms open back up and i'm feeling too lazy to go, i can play this. I love it, I can't wait to get my quest :-) (in one month)
For what it's worth, I got the Quest about 3 weeks ago specifically for exercise. I've played Beat Saber every day since and it has made a huge difference. Before I started my arm and leg muscles were in bad shape after spending most of the year as a couch potato. I'd hurt my achilles tendon and couldn't do much and was really bummed about it. Since then my arms and legs have tightened up from all the flailing around and ducking. I've also been playing Pistol Whip which seems to be good for mid and lower body from dodging bullets, and is a lot of fun besides. I'm buying BoxVr today - I agree that VR will be a huge part of fitness. Also, I won't go to a gym. Now I don't need to feel bad about that.
@@citizenterra For working out I would say BoxVR. Beatsaber is a ton of fun (lightsabers and music!) and is good exercise I think, but BoxVR is harder for me and there is no doubt that it's exercise. Hey BMF, i have a tip for you. I noticed from the face cam that you didn’t seem to be paying any attention to your breath, it’s important to focus on your breathing while working out. In through the nose and out the mouth at a consistent slow and relaxed pace. You won’t get nearly as tired and will be able to train longer and it’s healthier for your body, because your getting more consistent oxygen levels to your brain and more blood flow throughout your body
Love games like this. I play Beat Saber like a work out, getting into motion and rhythm, moving not only my arms but my whole body rather then just wrists and leaning. About to buy this when I get home from work. Hopefully my OG Rift CV-1 doesn't fog or feel loose.
Fog up on the Quest? Try playing in Houston, Orlando or Tampa. You need a rubber surround. The higher humidity will definitely cause a fog up if you use standard Oculus surround.

I just need vr cover to make covers for the quest 2. Right now i’m using a handkerchief around my forehead, which keeps the top padding dry. The bottom on the other hand is soaked. 😒
I tried box vr it is tough the main problem is the throws are hard to connect missing nearly all of them. The tutorial is not helpful. If they had the option to slow down targets to indicate exactly where you have to hit that would of been satisfying. The target indicator doesn't show arrows like the psvr but a blocky arrow which you can't see till last second. I don't understand what those comet spiralling targets mean also.
If the spiral is on the bottom, it means you should hit it from the bottom. They explain this on the tutorial also. If you are having trouble connecting, slow down your punches. Go gentle, make your swing smooth, and really focus on timing at first instead of trying to hit as hard as possible. Timing is also important when hitting real life pads with someone.

@@BMFVR Just did an hour of BoxVR and yeah it is more of a full body workout. You have to be a lot more accurate than beat saber as well because it's just one point you have to get instead of slashing something.

Been using Beat Shield with music from the 80s but it gets a little too crazy even on casual settings. Definitely thinking of grabbing Box VR soon. Looks more manageable.
Just purchased it and the timing is way off...the music or the things you hit are out of sync making it frustrating as hell....loads of people having issues but I want a solution because I can see how good it can be....just, un-usable
Starting in June, I will be logging in a fitness journal for my Quest. I am going to be a lot more focused and more aggressive in my fitness. I beat breast cancer and now I am going to beat obesity!
Question. What if you miss a lot of the punches? Meaning your timing is off a little or lets say you punch straight but you were supposed to hook and you miss a lot. Does it just keep going or is it game over and have to start again? Im just asking because if you dont have the reflexes or exact timing that could suck. Already a thing, they're made by VR Cover. The standard VR cover pad is leather and velcro'd on, so it can be taken off and wiped down in seconds after each workout. Plus if you're sharing the headset, there are disposable tissues that go between your face and the pad available everywhere.
I bought this but havent played it yet, some people said there is a problem with controller tracking but you didnt mention it so Im assuming you had non?
I've noticed very occasional tracking issues but overall it's quite minor. Every now and again it'll be like the glove gets stuck for like one swing, which can make you miss a punch. If you were super anal about getting a perfect score or something it could be frustrating, but for exercise it's essentially meaningless.
Part of me convincing my wife that we need an Oculus Quest was proving that it can be used to get fit. Honestly ever since I got my Quest I've been way more into physical activity. I'm surprised myself. Playing games like Superhot and Thrill of the Fight got me moving a lot and inspired me to even go to the gym more. I legit play some games before I go to bed just to get a sweaty workout in. @@erroldtumaque3430 my wife, but yes, I did convince her! Only have free stuff and Space Pirate Trainer at the moment, but the future is bright (via two lenses)!
Great Workout Games: I have a PC based VR system, but most of these should be available on Quest, probably not all of them though. Beat Saber Thrill of the Fight [far superior to Creed as a workout game, but not nearly as pretty or polished. Creed has you following prompts and you are unable to actually "box" as you would in real life for the sake of a cinematic presentation. Thrill of the Fight is a realistic boxing simulator.] Gorn [Very gory, but cartoonishly so to the point I don't find it remotely gross.] Spider-Man Far from Home VR experience. [Free, and the sandbox mode is amazing. Web swinging in VR is more tiring than you'd expect.] Super Hot. The world moves when you do, but you'll do lots of ducking and jukeing around. VR Super Sports. A Wii Sports knock off, dirt cheap, a bit buggy, but entertaining and a great for a warm up for a VR workout. Most of the games use a single controller. Blade and Sorcery. For much the same reason as Gorn, but it also has a Star Wars mod that adds lightsabers to the game called Outer Rim. That alone makes it worth it. Honestly, get Gorn first as this is in early access and is just waves of enemies that attack you with various weapons with very little in the way of other content. Space Pirate Simulator. It's a wave shooter, but you'll need to dodge enemy shots. Another good warm up VR app. Box VR of course as well.
I’m loving the boxvr on the quest and I wanna get more into it for sure. My only concern is the sweaty foam in the unit. Can you take it apart and wash it?
So just had my first experience of BoxVR and here is the result: AMAZING....I did 10 minutes and sweating like a 🐖 My only gripe is it keeps placing the footplate very close to the guardian boundary so as I'm punching the grid keeps appearing? If I position myself in the centre of my world back from the footplate 9/10 punches don't hit even tho it looks like direct hit? Is there no way to have footplate dead center?
if you're having trouble hitting the hooks and uppercuts like i did when i first started, try slowing down your punches at first. Go soft and gentle instead of going full speed until your swing is smooth and your timing is spot on. also, there's an option in the settings to adjust the alignment of your real world hands with the VR hands.

Now i have an excuse to get a quest :)
Is it more of a workout than beat saber? Because beat saber just isn't cutting it anymore even with a weighted vest.
@@BMFVR Thanks, I'll give it a shot.
@@BMFVR Just did an hour of BoxVR and yeah it is more of a full body workout. You have to be a lot more accurate than beat saber as well because it's just one point you have to get instead of slashing something.
@@P-tricky13 aswell as the weighted vest, you should try using weighted wrist straps to make your arms heavier. Add more the easier you find it.
@@yoyoyo3531 from everything I read online, that's a bad idea. Because the movements are so sparadic, you're very prone to injury even without the weight.
@@P-tricky13 I would suggest warming up (maybe with a level on beat saber that is two below what you find challenging).
I don't think you are probe to injury with this game without wrists weights, but I wouldn't go over one pound weights. And I definitely wouldn't start with them.
(Personal trainer and martial arts instructor. Age 48, and been at it for 30 years)
I tried this the other day! I selected the predefined workouts. It's pretty fun, but I struggle with the form on the side punches and especially the upwards punches.
do you punch hard or just soft?
How come this isn’t on quest 2
Just bought it for Da Wife! She loves beat saber figured she’d like this to workout on! Great video as always!
That's awesome. What other games do you guys play ?
I like the idea of this. I need to exercise as I've gained weight. This might be something that holds my attention.
This is honestly an underrated channel!
Which should I get?! BoxVr or Creed Boxing?
Box VR
I have neck issues (herniated disc, plus a couple of "severe pinching"). I'm wondering what impact the weight of the headset might have.
Ive been doing pistol whip for an hour the last 3 days 2 30 min plays on 1 day...im getting this today lovin the work outs on the quest...i sweat my arse off on whip but this looks so much better for workout...cant wait 👍
whether or not you still use box VR can you give us a VR Fitness update if you've still be using it for that cheers =)
how your progress three months after? are you still doing this or did you get burnt out?
Love this for the psvr. Great workout
I love this game i rather box vr then saber the music in the game is awesome I have a membership as well but with my busy work school I decant go to the gym on a routine so I have this and I feel great
Try and go 2 hours straight working out on it daily and let us know the results
@@BMFVR you got my support
Been using Beat Shield with music from the 80s but it gets a little too crazy even on casual settings. Definitely thinking of grabbing Box VR soon. Looks more manageable.
I like it ALOT but DAMN does my headset fog up! I even put on multiple fans. Apparently I am just hot-blooded.
The Oculus Go would fog up every time I put it on for the first 5 mins. I'm surprised that the Oculus Quest doesn't fog up even when I sweat.
Just purchased it and the timing is way off...the music or the things you hit are out of sync making it frustrating as hell....loads of people having issues but I want a solution because I can see how good it can be....just, un-usable
you can adjust the gloves in settings which fixes that
Do you like box vr or beat saber more ?
Starting in June, I will be logging in a fitness journal for my Quest. I am going to be a lot more focused and more aggressive in my fitness. I beat breast cancer and now I am going to beat obesity!
Question. What if you miss a lot of the punches? Meaning your timing is off a little or lets say you punch straight but you were supposed to hook and you miss a lot. Does it just keep going or is it game over and have to start again? Im just asking because if you dont have the reflexes or exact timing that could suck. Is there a free boxing mode to do whatever you want?
@@BMFVR great thats what I wanted to know. I dont care about scores, I just want a fun way to exercise. Im getting older and need to keep going but want it to be fun.
what about leg movement?
It doesn't track let movement but it days have you moving and doing squats.
gonna need to wear a balaclava to catch my workout sweat
Boy Meets Film please do a video using such an idea for laughs😂
Looks awesome but does it not make the lenses and straps moist and get uncomfortable? Is the material on the headset sweat absorbable. Please reply need to know ASAP. I purchased the quest last night and want to put it in good use for fitness purposes
@@BMFVR thanks for that info. Going to buy the game very soon. I wish we could move around the room wheen playing instead of being absolutely stationary. Played the creed demo last night and I was not happy not able to manoeuvre around a big ring no matter what room scale of my room
I have a psvr and it’s great but I still am not satisfied. I really want the quest for the wireless 360 freedom. The psvr is great but the tracking can get a bit off sometimes.
This doesn’t exist anymore? I can’t find it.
It's now called Challenge Box
@@50mrpickle Not on Oculus. I don’t see it.
Bruh I play box vr on the ps vr and I do 45 minutes workouts and I doesn’t fog up same with me playing any game it never fogs up
Can I add my own tracks to the game? I have some MP3 files that def aren’t on the game and I would love to play with them
you can if you purchase on steam and stream from your pc to your quest. but theres a tiny bit of latency
Jean 88 I use vive, not quest
@@cameronmeetze8153 then you can via steamvr yes
Yo, thats amazing, I just hope a 3rd party makes an attachment so the headset so it doesnt get all sweaty for these physically active games.
@@BMFVR Oh real, to use while with the headset. Or for cleaning the headest.?
@@BMFVR oh yeah, big time, did the Headset update downloaded all the free Apps/Demos and o boy is it much crisper and incredible tracking of the motion controllers cant wait to get full blown apps. 😳🤯🤯🤯
Already a thing, they're made by VR Cover. The standard VR cover pad is leather and velcro'd on, so it can be taken off and wiped down in seconds after each workout. Plus if you're sharing the headset, there are disposable tissues that go between your face and the pad available everywhere.
Besides changing stance and squatting do you move your feet at all? Do you ever change stance within a song?
I just getting my work out in and I suck
My upper cuts I can’t hit them
Song at 4:56
If you don't have money, Play Moon rider in the Oculus quest browser.
I suffered fog once while playing beatsabre I forgot to take my glasses off which I believe was cause of fog as never happened with glasses removed!
How do you have your gloves setup? Mine keep either missin or not registering
rob Carlton go into setting and change latency to 0
@@cameronmeetze8153 thanks 😁
I bought this but havent played it yet, some people said there is a problem with controller tracking but you didnt mention it so Im assuming you had non?
@@BMFVR Good to know, I'll try it out and see for myself
I've noticed very occasional tracking issues but overall it's quite minor. Every now and again it'll be like the glove gets stuck for like one swing, which can make you miss a punch. If you were super anal about getting a perfect score or something it could be frustrating, but for exercise it's essentially meaningless.
@@adamholt84 Same here, there are occasional hiccups but if your aim is just to get a workout using the prompts, it won't be an issue.
Is anyone been through a bad bad painful sore muscle in ur legs n thigh pls help tell me im not alone i wanna cri
Part of me convincing my wife that we need an Oculus Quest was proving that it can be used to get fit. I work from home and rarely leave the house, and I hate gyms and wouldn't be caught dead in one of those boxing dance classes, but this looks awesome, and glad to hear it fits so well into a daily routine. Definitely going to grab this based on your recommendation! Keep up the great work with these reviews. I'm going through the entire playlist! 😁
Honestly ever since I got my Quest I've been way more into physical activity. I'm surprised myself. Playing games like Superhot and Thrill of the Fight got me moving a lot and inspired me to even go to the gym more. I legit play some games before I go to bed just to get a sweaty workout in. You'll be surprised by how much your whole body really gets into it. Hope you can convince your girl haha it's worth it.
@@erroldtumaque3430 my wife, but yes, I did convince her! Only have free stuff and Space Pirate Trainer at the moment, but the future is bright (via two lenses)!
Great Workout Games:
I have a PC based VR system, but most of these should be available on Quest, probably not all of them though.
Beat Saber
Thrill of the Fight [far superior to Creed as a workout game, but not nearly as pretty or polished. Creed has you following prompts and you are unable to actually "box" as you would in real life for the sake of a cinematic presentation. Thrill of the Fight is a realistic boxing simulator.]
Gorn [Very gory, but cartoonishly so to the point I don't find it remotely gross.]
Spider-Man Far from Home VR experience. [Free, and the sandbox mode is amazing. Web swinging in VR is more tiring than you'd expect.]
Super Hot.
Can you take it apart and wash it?
you can get a sillicon cover for it , I have one and it works great for cleaning
So just had my first experience of BoxVR and here is the result:
AMAZING....I did 10 minutes and sweating like a 🐖
My only gripe is it keeps placing the footplate very close to the guardian boundary so as I'm punching the grid keeps appearing?
If I position myself in the centre of my world back from the footplate 9/10 punches don't hit even tho it looks like direct hit?
Is there no way to have footplate dead center?
if you're having trouble hitting the hooks and uppercuts like i did when i first started, try slowing down your punches at first. Go soft and gentle instead of going full speed until your swing is smooth and your timing is spot on. also, there's an option in the settings to adjust the alignment of your real world hands with the VR hands.
Back up and hold the oculus button on your right controller to reposition your play space, it wont change your guardian postion.
I like but after a month it turned into squat vr
its a steam game
Are you related to Jonah Hill???
Hey, anyone here try to do this with 1lb weights strapped to wrists?
The latest update ruined this game. You’ve been forewarned
250 calories in an hour? Doesnt seem like much but then again its a game
@@BMFVR thats awesome! im still not sure which one to get.. the quest or the rift s. i have a pc capable of vr but i like the portability of quest.
Dude, go see a real boxing coach and learn how to punch properly, you will get more out of it
Or you could just run round the block and eat properly?? Only messin', I'm sure it's, er, great fun........
First
The lens didnt fog up from your body heat from sweating?
Do it play 4k 5k or 6k videos? Do it weight about the same as a gear vr with the phone attached to it?
the weight you don't notice at all. literally spent about 3 hours playing tonight. you completely forget somethings on your head. and the quality is lightyears ahead of Gear vr
