Wow. I am a huge admirer of the control you have of that bead. I cant get the shakiness out of limbs. I dont breathe well. Its a real pleasure to watch your videos
You can do it 💪 I bet you can learn to put down great welds in no time if you can learn how to get comfortable (prop you arms/body against something so that you’re basically only relying on your skeletal structure to keep you stable) and be able to see the puddle well all the through the weld
@ might not hurt to try a cheater lens in your hood if you can. Also welding in a well-lit area helps more than you think it would. You want your weld puddle to be about 2-3x the size of the electrode diameter. So if you’re welding with an 1/8” electrode, aim to keep that puddle somewhere in better 1/4” - 3/8” wide and you should be in good shape. If you’re welding along and your puddle is < 1/4” try slowing down your travel speed. If the puddle is > 3/8” try increasing your travel speed
@christians131 thank you for this! I think I kept forgetting to keep a 10° rod angle towards the top of the plate (3g d1.1 cert prep) I was never even good enough to do all 8 or 9 beads and do a bend test.
You’re my favorite welding channel/person. But every channel has gotten so much $ from their videos they are no longer the “garage welding hero’s “ we saw them as. No people look at the throngs you’ve acquired and thing “ we need bench sanders, plasma cutters, 2000$ fixture tables, positioners, and all the little things that are out of reach for the normal home shop guy. I think I’ll start making the videos of the guy that comes home from work or weekend warrior. The way we looked up to you and fabrication series. Now that guy is a dick and it’s sad to see. Money ruins everything.

I wanna do this so bad but I failed out of welding school twice 😢
Gotta keep trying man if you don’t fail then your not learning

@christians131 you are so right. But it's also my vision. I can't see the puddle too well and if I can I don't know what it's supposed to be doing.
