    I've always loved the twin guitar attack of Sylvain and Johnny. They would actually play counter melodies sometimes as opposed to the standard rhythm/lead combination. The Dolls were always VERY underrated in their musicality.

      All of them were so different, they made the perfect street gang or proto punk rock group!
      So very correct in their influence on not just punk bands, but forget both ‘80’s metal or some ‘90’s alt rock if the Dolls didn’t disturb the peace in the mid ‘70’s first! Cheers!

      Chimps say “underrated” when they are too stupid to fool anyone into believing they have a legitimate opinion.
      Nothing underrated about the dolls. I did a survey when i worked with Hal 9k & out of the billions of people on the planet, 99.9 percent that heard the first 2 albums were absolutely enamored for life.
      Holywood numbers don’t depict anything but how well the chimps will believe something is underrated that isn’t

    Jerry Nolan is one of the most underrated drummers in rock history. The guy was a straight up KILLER!

    • @ECNIV2000
      @ECNIV2000 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      But the bassist was “Killer”….. 🤣😉
      Seriously, Jerry Nolan is was one of the most rocksteady drummers of all time. He proves the old Jazz saying that a band is only as good as their drummer. (I’m some cases, its not technical ability like Neil Peart, who is a good example, the first Rush album rocks, but they sounded very Sabbath. Then, Peart, came along and completed “Rush” like Nick Headon for the Clash Dave Grohl did for Nirvana. And it’s subtle, but John Densmore is one of the tightest drummers of all time who goes a bit unrecognized.
      Some classic and seminal bands had solid drummers like the Beatles, for one, the Sex Pistols, the Ramones, AC⚡️DC, but they wouldn’t make any top 10’s of all time.
      He and Johnny really were on the same page. I had a drummer like that once. They are almost impossible to replicate, and only luck will land you with another drummer who influences the songwriting

      I'm from Detroit (blow the reveille)!
      *Really, Really Well Said!*
      Jerry Nolan learned it's not _'holding-the-beat'._
      It's *creating a pocket.*
      And, you can move (slightly) ahead of the beat or (slightly) behind the beat.
      AND: He learned how to 'swing' from the great Gene Krupa!
      You were a 'frontman'. So, you know the difference between an 'everyman' & a genius. (drummer)
      I only played in 'pickup' situations.
      So, I never had a 'good' drummer.
      'Cept once.
      Unfortunately, he was a professional C&W drummer.
      It's amazing how different it is.
      We still had some fun!
      (he learned '4/4' real quick. LoL~°)
      *ROX ON!*

      I'm from Detroit (blow the reveille)!
      *I agree!* (underrated)
      @ECNIV2000 said it right.
      Densmore may be the 'most' underrated.
      Corky Laing too.
      I would add Dennis 'Machine-Gun' Thompson as well. But, everyone in The Motorcity knows he's one of the all-time greats! So, he'll always have that.
      Peace. Stay Healthy!

      So the story goes, that guitar and Steve Jones Fender Twin amp ended up in a London promoters office. It sat their gathering dust until they were given to some guy for favours received.....From there I don't know where they went. JT was Steve Jones guitar hero and I saw the Heatbreakers supported by The Only Ones? at the Marquee. JT and the Heartbreakers had done the groundwork and really rocked.

      Yeah,you're right.MacLaren ,the Sex Pistols manager,was brieftly the manager of the NY Dolls (When they had the commie look,all in Red)and I think he was payed with this guitar.So when Mac Laren began to manage the Pistols,he gave the white,or ivory Gibson Les Paul Custom to the Pistols guitar player.To Steve Jones,who said twenty ,or so,years after the Pistols end,that he selled several times a white Les Paul Custom saying it was the Sylvain Sylvain one!
