Something I've always found funny is that when Zeus's siblings were still inside Chronos, Hades would punch the inside of Chronos' stomach, just to remind him that he was in there.
1:45 Odd that you left out the detail of how Zeus escaped being eaten. Rhea hid the baby, and when Cronus came to eat him, Rhea wrapped the baby clothes around a big rock instead. Cronus went "This seems like a perfect weight and density for a baby, sure, this is not suspicious at all." and gulped it down, none the wiser.
The origin of the Minotaur is rather interesting. Prince Minos of Crete prays to the god Posidion for a sign to prove to the people that he is the rightful heir. So he sends Minos a pure white bull provived he sacrifices the animal in Posidon's name when he's reconized as king. Instead of following Posidon's instructions, Minos selfishly sacrifices a lesser bull and keeps the white bull for breeding. Enraged, Posidon punishes Minos twice. First, he drives the bull mad, where it reeks havoc across the land. Second, he made Minos' wife, Queen Pasiphae, lust for the creature so much that she ordered the inventor Daidalos to craft a cow dummy so she could mate with the bull. From this union she would give birth to the Minotaur.
For me, the weirdest story from Greek Mythology is when Poseidon assaulted Medusa (before Athena transformed her into a monster) she gave birth to Pegasus.
As I recall, when Medusa was decapitated, Pegasus emerged fully grown from her severed neck along with his brother Chrysaor, a giant bearing a golden sword.

The underworld wasn't known AS Tartarus. Rather, Tartarus was a region of the whole, bigger underworld where the titans and anyone else doomed to eternal punishment were thrown (and where some fearsome gods resided, such as Nyx or Eris). Not exactly a mistake, more of an omission, but the primordial gods (lead by Uranus) were dethroned by the titans first (lead by Chronos), like the olympians dethroned the titans, and like the prophecy said that one of Zeus' children would dethrone him too. I don't know why that was omitted, it's kind of weird.
One slice of mythology I enjoy involves titan brothers Prometheus and Epimetheus. Prometheus's big thing was thinking ahead, his name roughly translating to "Forethought". He foresaw how the war between the titans and the other gods would end up, so he convinced his bro to switch to the winning team. Epimetheus, for whatever reason, was put in charge of giving out gifts to these newly created things called 'animals'. Wings so they could fly, hooves so they could run, fur so they could keep warm. However, being the god of 'hindsight is 20/20' (roughly translating to "Afterthought"), by the time humans came up, he had run out of gifts. Bro got his back, though! Even though he knew ahead of time that doing so would turn him into a bird feeder, Prometheus gave the humans fire that he stole from the gods. What a cool guy! Which is why, one day, Prometheus had a vision, and told his brother that the other gods were out to get him. Under no circumstances, Epimetheus was told, accept or open any gifts from those guys. This was very important, he was warned. So when the other gods said hey, we made this beautiful woman for you, as a gift to marry, Epimetheus of course saw no problem with this. Her name was Pandora, and she carried a box she was told never to open, with all of the evils and bad things in the world trapped inside. This day keeps getting better for Epimetheus! He gets to get married *and* open a wedding gift! The obvious thing happens, and Epimetheus mugs to the camera and says gee, maybe I shouldn't have done that! Cue laugh track.

I'm glad you think they are weird too. I wonder if the weirdness is just the story tellers trying to get more likes. Many ancient religions were genuinely disturbing. But they are worth learning about.
The only tales more violent than the Greek myths are the Brothers Grimm fairytales. Clearly the ancient Greeks were very weird. It's no wonder they made the Ancient Romans nervous, even though they took on their myths and gods, altering names and events. The Leda swan myth, is the basis of Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake ballet. As a kid I went to two private primary schools, so I read about all this stuff. Local UK libraries used to have children's Greek myths books, when I was a kid in the sixties...they are probably banned now. How did they make him stay alive, what about his food and drink, or the pain? Totally crazy.
Prometheus I believe; he stole fire from Mount Olympus to give humanity the spark of knowledge, creativity, life, etc As punishment for his theft he was strapped to the rock so that vultures would eat his liver. Being immortal himself, every day he regenerated his liver, every day the vultures came to feast on him.

Dionysus, at least in some tellings, may be linked to King Midas and his golden touch. Allegedly, Dionysus lived with a hermit who had the ability to tell the future, but only whole completely intoxicated. Midas heard of this and had the hermit kidnapped, intending to use his ability for personal gain. Dionysus went looking for the hermit and found him in King Midas' court, being plied with the best food, drink and entertainment that could be found. Midas attempted to lie and claim he'd saved the hermit from starvation, but Dionysus could see through that. However, instead of punishing the king directly, he used Midas' own greed against him, offering him whatever boon he wished as thanks for saving the hermit. Midas wished for anything he touched to become solid gold. Dionysus granted this boon, a feast was held, and Midas soon learned that his boon was, in fact, a curse. He could neither eat nor drink anything, and upon hugging him, Midas' own daughter turned to gold. Knowing he would surely starve or die of thirst, and with his own child turned inanimate, Midas begged Dionysus to relieve him of the boon. This was done by allowing Midas to wash his hands in the river Pactolus, the sands turning to gold dust and the water flowing as if it were liquid gold.
It's like a good chunk of Greek Mythology are, in some way or another, caused by Zeus unable to keep it in his pants. I mean, damn man, control yourself sheeeesh.
Disney's "Hercules" is an absolute abomination and complete insult to the myth of Hercules. The first and foremost obvious farce of the film is that Hades is depicted as the villain, even though in the original myth Hera is, more or less, the actual villain to Hercules. Hades barely makes an appearance in the O.G. myth, relegated to just allowing Hercules to take his guard dog, Cerberus, to the surface providing that Hercules does not harm Hades' beloved pet. I watched the Disney abomination only once and I will never watch it again because of how awful it is in relation to the actual mythology. I understand omitting certain aspects for kid-friendliness, but what Disney did was put a lot of false ideas into young viewers minds about the mythology. I'm guessing that the same people who wrote Disney's "Hercules" also worked on "Clash of the Titans" a film (or films) with absolutely no titans clashing.
In Greek mythology Uranus was often times pronounced "Ouranos" (Οὐρανός). My Grandmother had art of Ouranos all over her house when growing up in Leuctra (Λεύκτρα).
I know that it might be weird and kind of crazy, but my favorite is Medusa, and the reason why is because well she was supposed of been beautiful. She was lovely, according to the poem-until she was raped in Athena's temple by Poseidon. Athena then punished her for this violation, by turning her into the monstrous, stony-glanced creature that we know. And I have that same kind of anger and if I had that power, I would do the same thing I don’t like people for the most part people are mean people are actually cruel. I was raped if I could hurt the one that hurt me then I’d be happy. It is turned me into a very angry person and I know karma will come to that person someday if it already hasn’t entered, those that have ever been mean to me, it will come
That isn’t a Greek myth. It’s a myth written by a Roman in the 30-20s BC, who intentionally rewrote Greek myth to make the gods look even worse than before because he had an issue with authority. Never in Greek myth was Medusa a woman. She was a monster, the daughter of Phorcys and Ceto, making her a half-cousin of Kronos, Zeus’s father

Though you are inaccurate pretty often your videos are still fun. 8:32 also Thrace both then and today is in North-East Greece with some of its territories had been taken by other countries(Turkey,Bulgaria)later on... And Odysseus was Greek by an island called Ithaca.
How about the story of Ganymede, a boy so handsome that Zeus had to possess him? Zeus transforms himself into an eagle and swoops down to earth to abduct the young man.
Maybe now you could do an episode on the weirdest myths in the Bible. They are even stranger. The talking snake is not even the worst. Try to explain where all the babies came from after Adam and Eve had their children.

Let's all start pronouncing Uranus "you-RUN-us", okay?
😅😂 Especially when he pronounces Gaia as "Gay-a". Awkward.
Greek Mythology is ancient DevianArt text. So many strange transformations....I would've be surprised if Ovid and Virgil were early man's first furries.
Has anyone watch that parody from SNL about Greek gods? This video reminds me of that!
My favorite stories from myths would be the Greek myths Norse, Egyptian, American Indian culture plus my favorite Bible stories are Noah's Ark and the Nativity
Though you are inaccurate pretty often your videos are still fun.
8:32 also Thrace both then and today is in North-East Greece with some of its territories had been taken by other countries(Turkey,Bulgaria)later on...
And Odysseus was Greek by an island called Ithaca.
No one is asking for these videos to be accurate only that the history involved in it is weird

Lycurgus sounds must’ve been a teetotaler if he hated the god of wine
How about the story of Ganymede, a boy so handsome that Zeus had to possess him? Zeus transforms himself into an eagle and swoops down to earth to abduct the young man.
"...Cl-era??.." funny stuff
Well atleast we know how L Ron Hubbard created scientolgy 😂
Maybe now you could do an episode on the weirdest myths in the Bible. They are even stranger. The talking snake is not even the worst. Try to explain where all the babies came from after Adam and Eve had their children.
Symbology
The Bible states Adam and Eve were the first created not the ONLY ones created.
@@MarceloHenrique1404 That is the right word.
@@lisaedelstein0118 That is the lamest apology for the religion I have ever heard.
Incest is a wildly admitted in the Bible and has long been practiced by Jews and ancient cultures Jews did plenty after Hitler had his fun
If a Greek myth starts with something like “there was a beautiful woman…” then you know that Zeus is involved and she’s screwed
Metis was a Titan, not a mortal. Zeus swallowed her by tricking her with a shapeshifting game
