I see your view--he definitely plays a more charismatic Hades. I saw his 2nd performance and one of the ways he was threatening was with his charisma and ability to charm and not just intimidate. His Little Songbird was so low you felt it in your chest and he flipped into this falsetto for "canaaaaaaary" which went crazy. Solea played this amazing, jaded Eurydice with a much harder exterior and Hades was smoother in his manipulation--think Lou Pearlman and others who groom young people. So frightening. Following his strut in Chant, he sobbed real tears through Epic III and the dance and he and Betty had lovely, vulnerable chemistry. Anyway, not trying to start anything; just a fellow fan. Cheers.
From just this 47 second clip alone, he doesn’t seem intimidating, but he seems very bitter and acerbic. As if he is pissed at Orpheus, but he’s downright resentful of the fact that, in spite of shackling Persephone with jewels, she still doesn’t want to be in Hadestown with him.
I would love to hear his version of "I conduct the electric city"
It’s absolutely incredible
When I saw him the entire theatre SHOOK
I love his baritone - I've been playing older versions without him and I think he makes the songs
that much better

I just realized Hades wears Nicole Kidman's AMC theatre suit.

He just isnt threatning though.
It’s a 47 second clip.
…it’s a two hour show.
exactly my thoughts. I love his energy but his voice is too cartoony imo
