@@ThatSockmonkey Exactly! It's like charging someone with "speeding by *unlawful* excess of speed limit" or " trespassing by *unlawfully* inhabiting or entering a property not belonging to the accused" or "murder by *unlawful* taking of life of another human." That whole *unlawful* thing was already expressed by the first word which is already a crime, what's the point in the redundancy? It's pretty much just saying the crime and definition of the crime. What makes it more stupid is it actually implies that there could be theft by _lawful_ taking of property, which then contradicts itself.
@@Eidolon1andOnly Actually, there’s a point to that. Many statues often seem redundant in the explanation or title to ensure a complete understanding of the issue so there’s no confusion. Because if this video hasn’t already shown how dumb people can be, you can see it in the statues. Plus there’s different types of theft so that just specifies it.
@@MajorJim69 Different types of theft are still all unlawful, and have their own words with distinct definitions, like larceny, grand larceny, theft, robbery, burglary, etc. and are well defined in law books and dictionaries. There's really no reason for the redundancy as there could never be "theft by *lawful* taking". Either it is theft, which is a crime, or lawful taking which is not a crime. I know people can be stupid, but even the dumbest people know what theft is.
@@Eidolon1andOnly The guy in the video didn’t even know what robbery was. “I asked nicely.” Also, embezzlement happened in this video. Which in that case, there is a lawful taking/possession in the beginning and then they used unlawful means AFTER having lawful possession. Obviously any crime is unlawful. But it being redundant isn’t an issue or odd when there’s idiots like him out there. Plus with statues it’s best to have as much information in them with no regards to redundancy.
I really love it when an idiot manages to successfully get an appeal, and then get sentenced to the exact same amount of time as the original sentence. 😂

So when I make a comment about some criminal law situation I draw a little from each job experience. Hell, I worked in a gas station, a pet store and as a life guard, paying my way through college. When I was a Probation Officer I went to court a lot and I saw many dumb, incompetent lawyers and I figured, hey, maybe I can be a lawyer too (if that jerk made it). As a Prosecutor I went before Judges who weren’t too bright and figured that maybe I could do that too. I was incredibly lucky too; I admit that. I came to these jobs when there were lots of openings. I might not be able to accomplish what I did, if I were starting out now. It’s much harder now. Florida was actually advertising out of state to get lawyers when I started out. When I became a Judge, there were only eleven of us for the largest county, land wise, in Florida. There are probably thirty plus Judges now I figure and ten lawyers on every corner here now.

I grew up around a lot of criminals. I can tell you from personal experience that they are not the brightest bulbs in the pack although they all tend to think they're criminal masterminds. Of course, the fact that they keep getting caught and spending at least 50% of their lives behind bars does nothing to deter this opinion.

I feel like social media played no role in the case of the women cruising. The video clearly says they were tipped off.
@ツ2คкεuคu2 what video?
I was thinking the same thing. Most people that go on a cruise will take pictures or video of the beautiful places that they visit. Not really anything out of the ordinary.
Yeah, I didn't understand this part of the video. If they had taken pictures of the cocaine and shared those, then it would make sense, but a person taking pictures of regular things they were doing while on cruise? Bruh, those pictures didn't do anything, it was the police dogs that found the drugs that gave them away.

"Theft by *unlawful taking"* That sounds a little redundant.
Right? Theft is unlawful taking.
@@ThatSockmonkey Exactly! It's like charging someone with "speeding by *unlawful* excess of speed limit" or " trespassing by *unlawfully* inhabiting or entering a property not belonging to the accused" or "murder by *unlawful* taking of life of another human."
That whole *unlawful* thing was already expressed by the first word which is already a crime, what's the point in the redundancy?
I'm laughing at the polite bank robber lol
I mean.. the last guy is pretty epic lol, no mention of a gun or anything just "give me money please :)".
