The best interpretations of this beautiful song are those of Jimmy Bell (original) and Elvis Presley... The two interpretations mentioned (J. I speak only of the musical arrangement itself. The Australian singer had a full orchestra being used for the melody itself and its tempo. I am not referring to the song's lyrics or words nor of the pronunciation of them, or the voice of the singer himself. IN my opinion the Johhny O'Keeffe's musical production was far superior. However, I just finished listening to Jimmy Bell, a singer I had never heard of till you mentioned him in your response. His vocal ability was absolutely beautiful and very emotional, something O'Keeffe lacked. You are correct in saying both Bell and Elvis were much more moving with this song. However, as I say only from a vocal perspective. I didn't care for their musical instrumental backup.

In my original comment, which was gosh, posted 4 years ago now, I think perhaps I was somewhat unclear after just reading it again, after all this time. I did mean the rendition of the song in terms only of its musical arrangement. There is no doubt whatsoever the voices of Elvis and Bell just knock the ball right out of the park. The musical composition and its tempo arrangement, and use of different instruments can change the sound of a song entirely. I love chuck Berry, but his song "Memphis Tennessee" sounds awful, until Elvis got a hold of it and changed its arrangement. When Elvis sung it, it was amazing . Elvis was a brilliant musical producer not just a huge vocal talent, but you know he never got credit for his musical arrangements of a song, which is a highly paid job in and of itself. With the song "She Wears My Ring " for me personally, I love the arrangement of the music in O'Keefe's version. Johnny Okeefe himself was not a great singer though. It's a beautiful old Spanish song I think goes all the way back to the 1800's. It's hard song to mess up by anybody really, because it's just so lovely. Spanish or Latino music is absolutely beautiful. I have many old Spanish songs from back in the days when people brought records. lol .... now I'm giving my age away.
