- Camp at Pontispool; always great fun, a time to learn proper stable management, for friendships, pranks and late nights, for appallingly untidy cabins, exhaustion and laughter but most important of all, to tackle that great Cross Country Course.

I've never done riding camp but i've always wanted to!
this camp looked so much fun, my camp is for 5 days in a few weeks.
For people saying that they are being to harsh on the bit and with the whip, you don’t know what position their in and you don’t know their horses and if they were harming the horse in any way which I’m sure they wouldn’t , the adults there would tell them
They don’t need strangers on the internet nit picking and telling them right from wrong
I loved watching people that ride English mostly do barrel raring at my camp I always beat every one bc my horse is and ex barrel horse XD
I don’t have a horse but I really want to go to a pony camp or Join one in Edinburgh any ideas?

some stables f they have their own pony club there they will let you borrow the horses for the pony club thats what i did on my first camp

I would have loved to have done pony club but my family couldn't afford it. 😔 I just used to watch everyone else have fun. Tough times.

@Kate Crossley Furse Somerset is around 4 hours away from Derby-shire. My pony club are also based in Devon and we have camp at the exact same play Taunton Vale Harriers do :)

We do sometimes take from other branches but usually because of being school friends or family.

Are you allowed to use hackamores at camps like this?
I’m not sure but the horses are sport horses so they are trained and used to a bit. They also were using bit guards so it wouldn’t pinch the horse’s mouth and cause it to freak out. My main point is the horses are trained sport horses so they are family with all the equipment used. Unlike other horses who some do not like bits at all❤️
I doubt it pony club doesn't normally let you (I've asked) but it does depend on what pony club, camp or yard you go to!
My pony camp lets me use a hackamore on my pony who doesn’t like bits at all😊
Sadly I can't take part in pony club but I still love to ride my pony and we have lessons here and now and I think he enjoys it ☺️

because they use it very harshly and the "softness" still hurts
Why don’t you go over to a western riders channel and take a good look at their bits, and how harshly they use them. Take a moment before discouraging young kids. They probably know way more than you do.

You can do ones similar to this at riding schools that put you in ability groups eg.experienced,beginner etc

It depends I think one like this (I don’t know just an assumption) yes but some riding schools do one where you can rent school horses
They are kinda hard on the bit, have them learn that first. Overall, very great! Looks like fun.

Ponies can get strong going across country and they are only children, they haven't got that much strength and they might need to take a pull to avoid hitting a solid fence at speed and getting killed! I think they all did bloody well to tackle those obstacles and the ponies were as keen as mustard.

Martingales are for the own horses safety, and do you know what why of those things do?

And what do you think they should do when their pony is hurtling downhill towards a huge log? Sometimes you have to be very firm for the sake of safety. These are not show jumps they are solid timber.

Edens Sso adventures usually it is for the individual horses need so if you have quite a naughty horse then maybe you would want a harsher bit but it is up to the rider to decide wether a bit is too harsh for their horse or not and not for anyone else .
