  • No better way to end the day than watching the sun go down from the seat of a kayak. Today I caught the sunset in the Oldtown Loon 106. This was my first time paddling this little kayak and I was impressed. It was well thought out, well made, and did exactly what its suppose to do. If your looking for a small portable fishing kayak for floating rivers or paddling close to shore, the Loon is a fantastic choice. If you like the looks of the smaller Loon but need some more speed or storage, check out the Loon 126.

    I have this kayak and can 100% say I LOVE IT!!! I tried out several sizes and styles before coming across this one and you couldn't pay me to trade it for anything else!

    Love my Loon 120! A little heavy, but the most comfortable and adjustable seat I've sat in. Would love to see a review of a 120 or the 126 angler!

    I have the OT Sportsman 120 paddle only version for fishing and I am adding the Loon 126 Angler to my fleet this year. Looking forward to having a sit inside option and it is hard to beat the quality of Old Town. Great videos and honest reviews. Keep up the great work!

    Be nice to see a Loon 126 vs Pungo 125 review/shootout. As these are supposed to be the two most stable and comfortable kayaks in their class, with regards to price. Also can't seem to find any comparison of the two out there what so ever. It would be a good video to get some views for you I bet.

    love your reviews! I would love to see a video review on your best kayaks that you think would be best to bring your dog with you. I am looking to get a new kayak because I just rescued a Chihuahua and I feel my hurricane 116 is a little small to have her in the with mad I use the dashboard that comes with it.

      Oh thats a Dead Fish Polo sponge. Basically a double-sided sponge with webbing holding it together. You use your paddle to toss it. If it lands on someone's board or boat you get a point. If they catch it, they get a point. If you flip you lose a point. The first one to 10 wins.

    It's a beautiful boat. It tracks nice, it handles nice, it has great stability, but one question remains. Can you get a spray skirt for that cavernous cockpit opening? Fishing in cold weather one might want one to prevent cold water from getting inside.

    • @paddleboy84
      @paddleboy84  ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven’t looked. At that point I may just go with a pair of dry pants from Level six, NRS, or Kokatat.

    Great content as always Dan. Looks like a pretty fast little boat, would you say that's accurate? What would you prefer between this and the pungo 105? Seeing them both, I feel like the Old Town just seems to have a higher build quality.

    • @Jrc4120
      @Jrc4120 ปีที่แล้ว

      Side note, it does come with a paddle holder. It should be with the anchor, it's a taco style that screws into the pre-drilled holes on the side.

    • @paddleboy84
      @paddleboy84  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ha! I’m the worst reviewer on the planet! I’ll check that tonight. I’ve got both the Pungo and loon. Both are sweet and similar build. I need to do a side by side.

      @@paddleboy84 haha no you've got the best reviews in the business! I've been eyeing up the Loon 106, but was worried about slow hull speed being 31 inches wide. It looks like a quick little boat in this video, though!

    Which kayak do you think would be better for a river system the lure 11.5 or oldtown sportsman 106?

    • @paddleboy84
      @paddleboy84  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve never tried the Oldtown, the Lure works great on rivers like this.

  • @jddorland

    Curious why someone might go with this over like a Moken? Seems like more room in Moken and less $. And maybe a bit better weight capacity.

    • @paddleboy84
      @paddleboy84  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The Performace of a sit in is better. They are also lighter off the water. More protection from the elements in cooler months. I’m not saying it’s better, I bet the Moken outsells this 10-1, but for some folks it would be a better tool.

  • @celsogreen2332

    Do you think it can be used on the coast or in bays like Key West?

    • @paddleboy84
      @paddleboy84  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      there are better tools for the job. Longer is always better in bays. I’d also look for two bulkheads offshore.

    Where do you put a Tackle box?

    • @paddleboy84
      @paddleboy84  ปีที่แล้ว

      You’d have to be smart with your gear and pack light. There is room around the seat and in the front hatch, but this isn’t a kayak you’d fish a tournament in, it’s a two rod, one Plano box kind of kayak.
